  • Reading the article, it appears that St. John's claim of "for cause" is pretty weak.

According to the termination letter obtained by ESPN, Anderson was fired for "failure to create and support an environment that strongly encourages student-athletes who are in the men's basketball program to meet all university academic requirements," "failure to perform your duties and responsibilities in a manner that reflected positively on St. John's University ... in actions [that] brought serious discredit" to the school and "failure to appropriately supervise and communicate with your assistant coaches."
That's pretty ambiguous. Did some students not make grades? What were student grades before and after Anderson took over? I don't recall seeing any St. Johns players in the news for breaking laws or anything (certainly nothing like NMSU). Unless they have some smoking details, ambiguities in contracts are generally weighed against the party that drafted the contract, which I am assuming was St. Johns.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Honestly, for South Florida, that is not a bad move at all.

              • That's a big time move. Good for the conference.

                    • Hopefully this is just because the South Florida AD wants to wait for the announcement and not because he is completely fumbling this situation (which would be on-brand).

That extension is from March 2022.

                        • Per the UNI message board - Devries would be an idiot to come to Wichita because the conference is going to be trash.... umm apparently the Valley is great? Delusion at its finest.

No please God no. WSU is out of his league.

These kind of comments make me laugh. Just who IS in our league? As I see it, we are in the same league as mid-high level P5 jobs. And those are exactly who we are in competition with for these candidates.

Do I personally like other candidates better? Sure, but that is just a personal preference. Doesnt mean those other people we are necessarily out of their league.

I think a Kelsey, Richey, McCasland, DeVries is exactly who we should be targeting.
