That was a genius coaching move. Most people expected a set play to get the ball inside. The shot just didn't go. IB can't shoot for them. They just need to get better. They are working hard on it. Plus he's a really nice guy and the kids like him. A real players coach!

        • Massey Ratings - College Basketball extreme scoring outcomes and upsets

The loss was bad, but according to Ken Massey, it is only the 2nd worse loss of the season. However, we still have hope to take over first place when we play cellar-dweller SWAC member, Mississippi Valley State.

          • North Texas - we're going to give you a demoralizing home loss.

Alcorn State - hold my beer.

              That is all.
I guess we just disagree about why kids leave. Some are run off, some want to play on a bigger stage, some are young and want more minutes, some want to play closer to home.

                Dan,
                Fair enough and agreed.

MVSU may now be a concern down the road, but Richmond is the current Excedrin #3 headache.

                  • 1. J Walton is my favorite among the new guys, but after he watched that kid fly past him and then jogged after him......
                    2. Bell does a lot of the little things that go unnoticed, but he doesn't do any any of the big things
                    3. we went to the press after the game was lost
                    4. Ballard was a bad matchup for THEM, too
                    5. HCIB is in over his head, and finally, everybody can see it
                    6. We went to Photo 3or 4 times in a row, looked like a team, and then everybody wanted theirs
                    7. And then Coach shoulda called TO, ripped azz, and substituted
                    8. We used to call this ........juco ball
                    10. We got outrebounded by a bunch of smurfs, that played harder

                    • The thing that bothers me most about yesterday is that it didn’t bother me at all. Call it the state of college basketball, zero expectations with a an inexperienced coach and brand new team, or just missing the identity of this program that FHCGM and to some extent Mark Turgeon had created within the community, yesterday I was far more concerned with about ten other things than the loss.

It’s going to take a while for me to get back to the game of college basketball and it will never be like it was.

This would work for why ASU is an improvement over NTSU ( and I did think about it as an answer), but actually my comment regarding a loss to ASU being an improvement over last year’s loss to NTSU was sarcasm, and a comment out of frustration.

Pohto was a bad offensive inside matchup for their 6’5” Center too. We just weren’t patient enough to not take quick threes, and get good inside shots. I like Ballard as an inside option right now too, as long as he can get the ball close enough to dunk it ( or the defender is trying to front him). When he gets the ball 8’ out with a defender behind him, he doesn’t have a lot of ball handling skills or shooting skills yet.
