So sorry we’re only up 30. Do you miss those days too?

You need to work on your math.

Rebounding probably #1 on that list

28 sure doesn't equal 30 though does it.

              • 25-30 point win is nice, but I found myself less interested after Game 1. Maybe that’s an over-reaction, but I don’t see the pieces to finish in the top half of the AAC.

Point guard: Porter is good. Every team will game-plan to stop him.
                Shooting guard: yikes
Small forward: Walton’s length is nice. He might score a little.
                Power forward: yikes
Center: Each guy has major deficiencies. Pohto’s only strength is shooting 30% from three. Rojas is small and just wants to shoot threes. Ballard can alter the game, but he’s a 10-15 minute guy at most.

                  • I think we have some good pieces. The starting lineup needs to be adjusted. Xavier Bell might be solid but there’s 2-3 guys that are more effective than him. I think I might try Abbide at the 4 and Pierre at the 2 to start.

I kind of agree. I am not going to write this team off after 1 game, regardless of the opponent. But still see a lot of 1 on 1 stuff. When they did move the ball they got some good looks. Rebounding is a major issue. That kind of effort on the glass will give the top half of the AAC 3 or 4 shots each possession.

I did see some things that look better than last year, but I just don't know yet. Have to see more before I feel extremely optimistic. I do still think we can be/are better than 8th in the AAC. But top half may be a struggle. Just way too early to tell.

We’re gonna win the national championship.

That was some top flight competition we had tonight.

Are you gonna do the same thing you did last year where you were hooping and hollering the first 8 games of the year and then go crickets the rest of the way?

                          ... No really, deuces.

That game/WSU can be both meh, while that prediction was pretty bad.

                            • I’m not ready to write this team into the NCAA tournament yet, but they are ahead of where I thought they would be.

There’s enough depth HCIB can and is using playing time to drive home the things he thinks are important.

Rebounding needs to improve but this team has the makings of a very good rebounding team if they can clean it up a little.

Ballard will be a better Ehimen.

                              • It was fun to watch. Beats the last couple of years of Shocker ball by a long way. I don't miss watching 1 or 2 guys dribble on the perimeter only to throw up (literally, and metaphorically) a 27 ft 3 ball.

                                my positives for this game:
                                1. Better team ball
                                2. More active hands defensively
                                3. Dribble penetration FINALLY.
                                4. Finishing at the rim.
                                5. Actual team leader setting up in Porter.

UCA is not an AAC level team. Will wait to see how Shocks respond to higher level play before I get prematurely hopeful on top half league finish.

Seems like a marked improvement in personnel over last year. Go Shocks!
