Hinson to SIU being reported

What makes your conference look bad is losing to schools like Ohio Dominican by a conference member with a Coach making $750K per year.

I have no idea how Barry Hinson will do at SIU, but I am fairly confident that he is s step up from Chris Lowery and, it is possible it may have been about as big a step as SIU could afford at this point in time. If Barry is the guy, then I think it is pretty obvious Bruce Weber turned them down. Not sure what other options were realistic for them. I think the SIU AD did say he wanted someone with head coaching experience.

I wish Coach Hinson well if he is the guy.

Hinson is a fine coach and better guy. He's not crazy expensive and he'll get the SIU ship pointed in the right direction and get them competitive. If his recruiting budget is better than it was at SWOMO he'll do just fine. And hell, he did alright there while having to stay withing 50 miles of campus to recruit.

SIU could do a hell of a lot worse than Hinson. No matter who they hire, I wish them well. It can't get any worse than it was under Lowery.

Hinson was a great representative for the Valley when he was here. Also hoping that he beats MSU quite a bit while he's here.

I hope he does well. Nice guy and had decent teams at MSU. However, to put in terms of baseball lingo: This hire is a single. He will need to put very strong people around him, especially someone tight in the recruiting circles of the area.
