      • 8 Game Stretch
        MVC
        2 Losses
        PPG 10.75 9 12
        APG 5.5 6 4.5
        SPG 1.625 1.5 1
        TPG 1.625 1.5 1
        RPG 4.63 3.75 5
        FG 22/76 (34%) 24/49 (49%) 9/34 (26%)
        3pt 10/29 (34%) 5/13 (38%) 5/17 (29%)
        2pt 16/47 (34%) 19/36 (53%) 4/17 (24%)
        FT 24/31 (77%) 19/21 (90%) 1/3 (33%)
        A/T 3.4 4 4.5
        S/T 1 1 1
So I was interested to see how FVV play has been lately compared to how he was doing earlier in the year. I decided to look at his numbers during the 8 games from the Utah loss to the GW loss, during MVC play( also 8 games), and the 2 games we lost. The numbers are pretty interesting. I have been saying (and so have others) that this team runs way better when FVV doesn't have to shoulder as much of the scoring load. All of his assist, turnover, and steal stats stay pretty much the same. Surprisingly he had a 4.5 A/T ratio in our two losses. Where the big difference lies is the number of shots he's taking and the percentage he is shooting. 76 shots in the 8 game stretch compared to 49 in the 8 game MVC stretch. 34 shots alone in the 2 losses! So he has been taking 36% less shots during the last 8 games. His fg% has gone from 34% to 49%. His 53% from 2 pt the last 8 game is impressive. He has also improved his ft% from 77% to 90%

I had to close my browser twice and the 3rd time it loaded and played.

I was thinking about this very thing this morning. Thanks for putting the data together. It confirms my thoughts that we are better when Fred can just do his thing and not feel like he has to try and take over the game.

            • FVV's season shooting percentages continued their impressive rebound last night.

Now at .424 FG% and .349 3FG%. Nobody will confuse that with Wyatt Earp level sharpshooting, but those are far better than what he had when our favorite ESPN columnist listed FVV as one of the season's "disappointments" earlier in the month.

I expect they will continue to improve during February. His perimeter shot is back to looking as comfortable as ever.

I loved Fred's post game comment, paraphrasing..."I think I can put up numbers like this anytime I want, but I would rather set others up."

Think any of the pundits who have said Fred is not living up to the AA hype saw this performance and said "that's more like it"
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Did anyone see this feature? If so, how was it? Sorry if it's mentioned in another thread.

It was pretty good. Talked about his childhood and how he got where he is today, basically.

                    • Does anyone know if there is a link or video online where the CBS Sports Inside College Basketball piece on Fred can be viewed?

BTW, the media jinx really messed with Fred's head against Loyola. Not!

I haven't seen anything yet, but I wonder if it will be posted on their YouTube channel.

                            I get video not available.

However, I found it on the CBS Sports channel on YouTube.
