I wonder though, what prompted the almost immediate raise for former ADDB? There seems to be no valid reason for it.......and was that the only position that was increased to represent relative worth, at that moment?

I'm very cautiously optimistic.

I've read in recent Eldridge articles that Marshall's severance came with NDAs being signed by all parties, insinuating that Boatright signed one too.

An NDA is a contract, and a contract is void if it lacks consideration. In other words, if Boatright got nothing out of the deal, he cannot be bound by its terms.

So maybe they took that as an opportunity to raise the AD's salary in line with the same position at similar schools, and thus bound Boatright to the NDA in the process.

This is just wild speculation as I don't believe the timing adds up. I think Boatright got his raise a few weeks before Marshall officially resigned.

My best friend is pretty excited about Angela Buckner being on this list. She's known her for years as they played together in HS and I believe the same summer teams as well. Described her as one of the most quality individuals she's ever known, which says something because she knows me, and is insanely sharp and level headed.

I never knew much of anything about Angela outside of basketball, bit I trust my dear friend. I'm not surprised as I think Wessel would probably be described much the same way by those that know him. This just goes to reiterate the quality of individuals Muma is surrounding himself with in this process.

Optimism feels weird but I kinda like it.

Nate was a friend of my son's since grade school. We last talked to him when he was at round rock which was after the Stevenson firing. It's been a while but I can confirm that Nate loves WSU through and through and will be great on this panel.

You are right. I did read somewhere there was a product in the works that might be acceptable to players.

In my day youth soccer games were sometimes played on mostly dirt lots with sticker patches and thorns (true story). And we were thankful (not so truthful)!

In college 98% of games were grass, and it was special to get to play SLU at Busch soccer park _because_ the stadium field was turf. Man, how times have changed.

Kids like me growing up playing competitive arena soccer thrived on the true bounce and speed of turf, while those who didn't generally just walked around limping on their newly sprained ankles.

Turf has come a looooong way since those days though. It's no longer 1/2" thick sandpaper, where a perfectly executed slide tackle means waking up the next morning with your bed sheet embedded in the now dry blood clot of your prior night's strawberry. Those were the days, my friends.

@rrshock, since you were around the Schaus process, is this a four to six-week process or is it quicker than that?

I can't remember the exact time frame but I believe 6 weeks sounds close. I honestly cant even remember who Schaus replaced anymore. We had to go thru resumes and contact references. Then the narrowing it down and interviews. It all took a little bit.

Schaus replaced Bill Bellnap ? I’m not sure of the spelling. I remember he was asleep at the wheel, ushered in the 90s. That’s my recollection

I'd like to see Mariah Chappell get strongly considered.

Mariah Chappell is:

- A graduate of another basketball school, Duke University

- Daughter of legendary Duke AD Kevin White

- Sister of former UCF and Current Tennessee AD, Danny White as well as current FAU AD Brian White

- Sister of Current UGA Head Basketball Coach Mike White

- Alumna of Tulane Law School

Mariah Chappell is the current Assistant AD at SMU.

I feel like she would fit in perfectly at a school where basketball is #1, and she obviously knows the American Athletic Conference very well. If anyone would hit the ground running, it's her. She also has access to the family Rolodex. She's connected.

Defiantly had a wealth of knowledge she can rely on.




Not that it should matter, but for a good handle full of people it does unfortunately, having a AD and associate-AD who are both females would check some boxes.

Having said that, if she got the job, it would be on merit alone.

I'm sure you all are more concerned with qualification boxes though. Those other boxes are pretty good for hauling dog doo only.

Unfortunately, it does to some people in hiring/filling positions.

If it does matter to the people filling the AD position, her qualifications would be enough to were it wouldn’t matter anyways.
