Boatright needs to host a town hall meeting for the concerned fan base. Would it be uncomfortable for him? Of course it would. But if he has plans and answers, he should welcome it.

An update for everyone:

Had my convo with Taylor, professional and excellent as always. He is planning on speaking with DB on Sunday so we will hopefully get some form of answer to our concerns from the AD before we run billboards and go fully public with this.

The response to this is truly incredible though, Shocker fans are unmatched throughout the entire country!

A goal was set and reached. Now comes the reckoning where the raised pitchforks are no longer merely a symbol of defiance. We are actually going to call for the head of our AD in a very public and humiliating manner. A little spooky no? And the actions we take are based on the average knowledge of a fan. What if our athletic department is in a near-bankrupt state w/ BeltTight and Co. on the phone constantly with donors and being rebuffed? I'm not saying that's the case, but "we" better damn well be sure ACTUAL incompetence is afoot or we can actually harm the program further.

Boatright was brought on as a steward of the AD (not a leader) at a time when every single one of us would have walked straight off a cliff following 3.5G. Gregg was a king in this town and Boatright was already on staff, apparently knew how to get along with said king, would work for the right price, and the position was open. Hindsight is always 20/20.

I would ask that any lurkers on this board who are employees of the AD contact Onegreatracer and make sure he is fully apprised of the situation. We are all angry and dismayed, but not one of us wants to hurt this program further. 95% of those in here popping their chops are not major donors. The point has been made, Shockernetters WILL draw blood. All I'm saying is, let's make sure we have the right man. Yes, this is me saying that.

And it would be VERY helpful if Wichita State would clarify publicly their strategy going forward so fans don't feel like their beloved program is just being left twisting in the wind.

My dad made an interesting observation this morning. Darren is a public employee, no? Paid with taxpayer funds through a state institution? At the same time, he is a direct report to Muma, right?

Therefore, DB is the state/university representative to oversee WSU athletics. WSU athletics are in shambles. He was at the helm for the demise, no matter how it was structured. He is also accountable to KS taxpayers because his salary was raised on your backs. If you are upset with the product he is putting out, then taxpayers have every right to call it out, humiliating or not.

Public disdain is the only option when the University refuses to listen.

- Why couldn’t Marshall be retained after a public apology, decreased salary, and mandated therapy?

- Why was Boatright given a raise behind closed doors (the REAL reason)?

- Why wasn’t a national coaching search done; both after Marshall was let go and after the interim season?

- Why wasn’t the department prepared to handle NIL better and help keep the program from losing their whole roster?

I'd actually avoid most topics revolving around Marshall. The goal here is to unite for change. The marshall firing is such a divided thing (one side thinks he should have been kept, the other thinks it's insane to consider keeping him). We don't want this campaign to turn into a Marshall thing. Or people think it's just disgruntled fans trying to get him back. That's a non starter anyways for multiple reasons and will only hurt participation from a lot of the fanbase.

The question about not doing a national search is a valid one though even though that ties to Marshall. Let's just focus on the specifics that are really killing us right now. Like why we weren't prepared for NIL, why there seems to be no vision or drive to improve athletics and facilities after the move to the AAC, why is there no plan for the future, no transparency. And yes absolutely why did the AD get a 37% raise during not only one of the worst periods of shocker sports but during one of the worst economic times in recent history.

Cool. I seriously doubt we are gonna get any "answers". Will probably shift blame and play woe is me.

But I guess we have to give the guy a chance.

I am not expecting him to say anything that makes me feel better.

I made sure to phrase the reasoning for our displeasure of more as "why was there not more transparency in the Marshall investigation? If he was the only one found to be so guilty and clearly in the wrong why is he getting 7.5m to not coach us?" isntesd of why was Marshall fired.

You have got to be kidding me.

It's one thing to be a pissed off, ****-talking fan, it's quite another to attack a man (and his family) in the way being discussed in here. I agree he is a public figure and also the representative of the athletic department which means his head gets chopped when things go tits up. I'm just saying that we need to be absolutely certain we are burning the right guy. The only way that is possible is for more investigation. Shocker Nation's guns are locked and loaded. It's up to Taylor now to do the investigative reporting. I just hope he has the stones to bring us the truth.

If the statement from the athletic department is deflective, dismissive, or in any way tone deaf with respect to the seriousness of the issue at hand... torpedoes away.
