OUR SHOCKER'S SEASON IN RETROSPECT AND A GLIMPSE INTO OUR BRIGHT FUTURE

If Wiggins was to come, and Hawkins get his test scores in order and comes, the question becomes, not if our team will be really good but rather when. Yes, it is a huge rebuilding Season but look at this talent. We will have returning players that we have available, 3 solid players that practiced with us all Season, and a recruiting class that brings us scorers, shooters, and serious athletes. Thus, maybe this would shake out to be a team that will improve in a serious fashion by the end of the Season when it counts the most?
Teams like Kentucky reload and rely on underclassmen. Maybe this class is not blue-chippers but it will be the very best recruiting class we have had under the Marshall Plan and add our 3 best ever threesome that are now ready to play after sitting out and learning with us all Season. Maybe we should be cautious with it all but these Shocks will likey have some serious swagger and I don't think Illinois State or Creighton will intimidate them one iota.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

I'm excited for next year. We won't be as good, or as experienced, but I don't see us being bad by any stretch of the imagination. How we do is entirely based on how fast things click for the team. I don't know if we're going to match up to Creighton or IllState, with as much as they have coming back, but we still have some strong seniors and a lot of talent. I don't think we're going to be getting blown out, and wouldn't be surprised to see us as the third best team in the Valley next year.

We have very good guard depth already. That's huge.
Armstead, Williams, Baker, Cotton, FVV, Wessel...
People wonder about the post. I think we have 3 solid players that could make a nice rotation.
Ehimen, Hall, White.
Early could play some if needed.
I think we could easily go nine deep and I haven't even mentioned Green or Hawkins yet. Both of which could possibly come in and contribute off the bench at the forward spots.
A guard rotation (1,2) of Armstead, Williams, Cotton, Baker, FVV means we can run and press like crazy because we have the guard play and depth to do it without wearing ourselves down.
Hall and White can score inside. White can also stretch the D a little. Hall and Ehimen both can make things difficult inside on D. Baskets won't be easy for other teams.
And Early can do a little bit of everything, inside and out. Plays D to from most reports.
We'll be a very dangerous team. We may slip up some early as we adjust to the new players, but Valley play will be fun!Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

If I'm not mistaken, only 2 Valley teams (other than WSU) will be hit hard by a loss of seniors, Indiana St and MSU. Of course, SIU and Bradley have to do a lot to get competitive, but I expect everyone else to be better than this year.
How fast WSU's new players progress, along with our current freshman and EO, will determine if we have a shot at the top three spots. I believe this team has the athletic ability and a potentially fast learning curve to be very dangerous, particularly in the latter part of the season. It wouldn't surprise me that this team could come out of the Valley pack to unexpectedly win the MVC tourney.

WSU will hit the boards. We know that. They won't get blown out of any games. We know that too (it would be a very rare occurence if they did get blown out in a game). The question for me is, how determined and focused can that offense become? like, say, on the road? Who are our dependable as nails shooters going to be?Last edited by another shocker; March 22, 2012, 04:31 PM.

Anyway, if Early is as good as I think he could become.. well.. slap him on Rayvonte, and Tuttle.. and maybe even Carmichael and Dougie Fresh.
