WANTED: Sharpshooter Shockers that can shoot the lights out next Season. Case in Point was Brady Heslip last night with Baylor. Tad Boyle touched on this at halftime saying they needed to guard him better and also stop Baylor from getting so many offensive rebounds.
Heslip made around 9-3-pointers last night in that game and is only a Soph? It was mentioned that he makes 150-3-pointers both before and after practice. Not shoots that many, but he makes that many.
Shooting may not be a lost art but this Dance is illustrating still again the importance of consistent shooting by players and teams. As players shoot around the horn in practice to develop this sharp-shooting ability, they will find certain sweet spots that they are the most accurate. Once that is established, plays could develop in true-game situations that allow them to take shots from those areas.
Will our Shockers be a solid shooting team next Season? If so, who could be our sharp-shooters? This does not have to be only the 3-point specialists, but overall good shooters both inside and out and free-throws?
Kentucky also had some solid shooters and scorers in their game yesterday as did Lehigh when they beat Duke. Who will be our scorers and out sharp-shooters next Season. Also, will we still be a very tough rebounding team next Season?Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Some love from ESPN Insider for FVV:
Though Joe Ragland's eligibility will expire after this season, Wichita State will be able to rely on Malcolm Armstead to handle the Shockers' offense next season. However, according to Scout.com's Brian Snow, the next backcourt star may not be the Oregon transfer but their incoming guard Fred Van Vleet. Snow analyzed three under-the-radar 2012 recruits who, if their teams were to make NCAA tournament runs in the upcoming seasons, could potentially have an impact on the national stage. One is incoming Shockers guard Fred Van Vleet. We have written extensively about the 5-foot-11 guard and though Snow acknowledges Van Vleet may have some physical limitations, his squads always win.
It will be interesting to analyze the type of impact Van Vleet has next year, and whether his arrival means Armstead plays off the ball (or, if the coaching staff first uses Van Vleet off the bench).
I'm excited for next year. We won't be as good, or as experienced, but I don't see us being bad by any stretch of the imagination. How we do is entirely based on how fast things click for the team. I don't know if we're going to match up to Creighton or IllState, with as much as they have coming back, but we still have some strong seniors and a lot of talent. I don't think we're going to be getting blown out, and wouldn't be surprised to see us as the third best team in the Valley next year.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'
