Garrett and all the team need to remember the part they played in hanging a conference championship banner in the rafters. We don't exactly have dozens up there. I doubt it will be a six year wait till the next one.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

Originally posted by KC Shox View PostI blame myself. I said I wouldn't watch the game, but I broke down and watched parts of it. You just knew when all the 5 seeds won earlier today that we would fulfill the madness and be the 5 seed that got busted. I said the outcome of the game would depend on how well the guys performed against their tenacious D, we know the answer. Bama's pressure D is not VCU's, even though the guys played against this type of D earlier in the season, VCU's rendition is a different monster.
Oh well, at least my bracket is still in good shape. Other than West Virginia, I'm perfect - whooo hoooo!Kansas is Flat. The Earth is Not!!

Good grief, I don't see anybody demanding an apology or shouting for HCGM's head. The straw man arguments on here are on fire tonight.
I think a lot of us are saying that we had a team with a better record, against a better schedule, with more senior players who lost to a team that was inferior to us in all of the categories above. Was VCU better than us tonight? Yep. Were they better than us from November through March 14? Nope. That's what makes it an upset.
And the coach is ultimately the one who accepts responsibility for that. Just like a CEO takes credit when business is booming, he also has to take responsibility when there is a hiccup. It doesn't fall on the peon low-level managers (or in this case, volunteers).
I am sure the staff learned from the loss. On to next year.

I'm not mad we lost, we got beat fair and square. But I'm way PO'd watching Shaka Smart flippantly extend his hand out for the handshake with GM and speed past by him like we're wasting his precious time. GM was looking at Shaka the entire time, slowed down, extended his hand and ended up watching the little smurf breeze past by him. Anyone else catch that, or is my beer goggles kicking in?

Garrett need not blame himself for the loss. If Carl Hall knew how to draw a charge and cover a three point shooter in the corner out of zone, VCU would have seven less points. If KC wouldn't have watched the game we would have won.
How's that for spreading the wealth?
