Coach just needs to ignore this jackass and use his words as motivation for a win

No, this needs to be ignored because nothing good can come of this. That is nothing good except for this radio host who would love the extra publicity from a media battle with a coach.
I 100% agree. Like it or not CGM is a highly paid represenative of the university. He needs to stay above the fray. There's nothing more that a sports talk show host would like than to drag this out in public...good ratings for them...bad publicity for us.

I thought about visiting with Jan about this today but decided against it.

Someone else said it first and better. There isn't anything good to come of it.

I stopped in on practice today. 2 words. Not fun.

          1 more word. Passionate.

I guess my reason for it would be for future interview requests, nothing more.

Oh My Gosh that guy was WAY more of a jerk than Marshall.
I can understand maybe a comment about how the interview wasn't very good, but he talked about it longer than the interview lasted. By the end of it he was basically just putting him down. The guy was just and idiot and doesn't know what day-to-day is...

As far away from the scene as I am, I am embarrassed that as a representative of WSU, that GM would conduct himself that way on a public media interview. For this GM falls another position on the totem pole.

Secondly, the media nut should have dismissed the interview as just a bad interview and moved on rather than dwell on it.

how was coach supposed to answer his questions? they were basic questions. "Is Matt ready to play? What do you think of your teams' effort?" Coach was right. What were his other offenses that drop his down your totem pole?

Dumb arse questions similar to the ones asked GM are aired every day on ESPN, ESPN2 & Fox Sports, etc channels. The true professional managers and players know how to address them in a more professional manner.

Similar questions are handled properly by Stephenson & Lamb, in an appropriate way, without adding fuel to the blazing fire. GM needs to be able to defuse this type of situation or he will have every media jerk hanging on his collar for the rest of the season.

Professional interviewers ask better questions, have their facts straight and understand what day to day means. They also don't go off on blind rants after the person has left the air.

What rock did you climb out from under. Stephenson and the media is train wreck waiting to happen every time. He practically put his foot in his mouth every time he opens it.

Coach Lamb got reprimanded by the league office for comments he made in the media.

Two bad examples. Marshall should have just hung up on him or excused himself by saying that he was having trouble concentrating on the interview while watching Dana Altman do the woo-pig-souiee chant wearing a $1,500 suit in front of 11,000 overall-wearing Hog fans.

I have grown to hate the word, "appropriate."

It is nothing more than a euphemism for "the proper way is the way I think it should be done."

The use of the term is a mealy mouth way of avoiding an express opinion, which could be attacked. After all, who can argue against appropriate behavior?[/quote]
