  • The Athletic ranks the top available players in the portal. None seem to fit the Shox needs. other than possibly some one-year bigs. No PG's listed. Lots of shooters who need to work on their D and wings.

The MVC has a couple of the highest rated transfers. Emoni Bates gets ripped in his review, but is still highly regarded.

Both Sherfield and Council were rated 12th when they committed. Dennis was rated 23rd when he committed.

        • I will say, the history of WSU and NYK is kind of crazy. Maybe over 50% of all WSU NBA pros have played for NYK at some point in their career?

Edit: nvm ... not even close

Looking through a different lens, in order for pro careers to die, the professional career would require to have a life to begin with.

Cle would have had a much better chance a lot of other places (IMO).

I will disagree there. He got more opportunities there because the Knicks weren't very good. And even in his limited playing time, he did not perform very well.

Now, there's something to be said that it might have been better for him to be with another team since he was from the area, and some of the things that come with that might not always be great (friends, family mooching, hanging with people he shouldn't be).

                      • The NCAA's transformation committee is recommending yearly transfer windows via the portal as well as changes to the current infractions process that would result in faster outcomes.

In early May, Todd Berry, the executive director of the American Football Coaches Association, told ESPN his group would like to see two transfer windows for players to enter their names in the portal: one from the final Sunday in November until the early signing date in mid-December, and another from April 15 to May 1. Both windows would coincide with contact periods in recruiting. Players wouldn't be required to transfer, only to enter the portal during designated time periods.

In addition to providing more guardrails for transfers, the transformation committee is also working to modernize the NCAA's lengthy infractions process. Leaders throughout college athletics have lamented what has traditionally been a painfully slow process that often punishes programs and coaches long after the offenders have moved on.

                        • I found this paragraph interesting:

"College sports continues to face many challenges, and we need to move quickly to update our rules and make infractions more efficient so we can focus our attention on Division I membership expectations and, most importantly, benefits for student-athletes," board chair and Georgia president Jere Morehead said in a prepared statement.

They would like to focus on Division 1 membership expectations and benefits for student-athletes.

I wonder what their division 1 membership expectations are?

Dennis comes to College Station after four seasons with the Shockers in which he played in 112 games, while averaging eight points per game or better in every season.

He also will bring a presence on the defensive side of the ball, after earning the American Conference Defensive Player of the year honor this past season.
