Ron was one of *******'s witnesses ... in the link above it says, "Baker said he didn’t actually see Marshal [sic] hit Morris at the practice in the fall of 2015, but he believed Morris and other teammates who said they saw it happen."
Last I knew, nobody on record has said they saw Shaq get punched. Again, I could have missed it.Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!

Way behind the scenes I know 2 close non-WSU employees (booster types) that independently shared the exact same story to me when it happened. I was somewhat suspect at the time, but as it played out years later and all the eyes that were associated with it, there doesn't seem to be much question (at least in my mind) that it happened. Some of the player sources have been condemned on this board, but its just to much not to draw another conclusion. Both Ron and Fred were quiet for some time not coming out to support Marshall. Ron's interview with Goatlube, although he didn't see it actually happen, indicated the wrong doing. There is just to much to suggest it didn't happen.Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!

It's far more likely he got father-slapped upside the back of his head. That's not a "strike", and if that happened, saying you didn't strike a player is definitely not a lie. But in this day and age I suppose you can't slap a kid for acting a fool, either. So it's quite possible his termination was warranted, that he wasn't lying, and that Shaq or ******* was embellishing. The other concern that sheds doubt is that neither Ron's account or Shaq's account of what happened jibed _at all_. And I'm sure the different accounts of what happened are why ******* sat on the story until he got scooped -- he couldn't get the facts straight from the "witnesses" (who we now know at least a couple _weren't_ witnesses).

He is a good coach, and thus was able to succeed at WSU, (who previously hired 3 awful coaches that couldn't win even at WSU). But MT was a product of the mainstream college basketball world, so, of course he couldn't stay at WSU because he didn't have that frame of mind to see it as something other than what the mainstream college BBall world did. Maybe he did, but couldn't/didn't have the confidence to believe it and see it through, whereas GM 100% did and had the MTXE mentality to prove everybody wrong. MT was just playing to a different crowd that he grew up in. Can't fault the guy for that. We had some great times with him, and he has done well for himself. Maybe if a spot opens up, he would like to come back and be on IBs staff.
