  • Reason I mention TE above is what he pointed out when Mo is in the game. Albeit a very small sample size, our defensive PPP is significantly better when he is on the court. Mo's struggles to recognize the double team, etc are frustrating, but I have always admired his toughness and consistent effort. I haven't checked a box score this year but his rebounding seems a little better. I hope he can regain his form from end of last year - we'll be much better for it if he does. Have to mention Pohto - I agree with Ref, buy all the stock you can. Last night saw some normal FR stuggles at the rim but he seems to have an advanced feel for the game and moves well for someone that tall. He'll get stronger and I bet he learns quickly. With his touch he is going to add a dimension to the O that will help a lot later this year.

Wow Chaunce! Much quicker than I imagined and obviously not afraid to try to make a play. Didn't look lost given his time on the bench - hope we see more.

Speaking of more...more Monzy! And I like Pleasant, but in addition to Monzy's energy he adds quickness and some playmaking at that position that we need.

Thought our PGs both played pretty well. Not great, but took care of the ball better.

I'd like to see Tyson not get sick. If he could work on that I'd appreciate it.

DD does so many things well, just need him to recognize when to drive and when not to. Some of those drives...yikes. He doesn't have to slice the D to be effective on offense.

RCIV is so talented. Still learning when to drive and shoot and when to drive and pass, but he's shown the ability to do both. Really want him to dial it in on D...he's not lazy I just want to see him lock in and play D through the buzzer. His knack for scoring and versatility in how he scores is pretty fun to watch.

I think very highly of HCIB and I like how he gives guys several minutes typically when they get in (ie let's them get into the flow). Interested in what you guys think here, but I did see him yank a couple of guys after bad plays (I think Porter and Pohto) and I've seen him get more animated with guys about mistakes. I have just been watching on TV so interested in your takes. Bottom line is improvement and I think these guys have the desire and work ethic to do that. As Taylor pointed out, our offense has been getting us wide open shots. I'm admittedly not an expert, but I'm not concerned with our game plan, sets, adjustments, etc. Once our shots start falling from open looks we'll feel a lot better. Time will tell.

    • Pleasant, as stated, plays the passing lanes, defensively, very well. Wish we had a few more who would do the same. Mo stays in the trap D too long (like the effort) sometimes and recovers late. "See your man and the ball..."

Offense was running sets. Grant was measured at the point. Hope that plays out this weekend.

Obviously, WSU's most glaring flaws last night, for the most part, came down to 'bad business decisions' by individuals, and had nothing to do with the coaching (other than those players''' should have been yanked quickly).

TE better learn how to penetrate to the hole with his head up and either convert +one, or get an assist. He hasn't shown that yet, ever...

I believe against 'Zona we are going to see what having real bigs' on the front line looks like; Shocks are still undersized. That has to be addressed if they want to be a top 40 type club.

IB is becoming more comfortable coaching during the games.

However, there was One time (it may have happened more than once but I didn't notice), when IB should have gone ballistic. Mo was rebounding by himself, and was swarmed by at least 3 TSU players underneath. Our entire team just stood and watched as the ball was tipped, and fought for, with Mo by himself. IMO, that was one time when IB should have made a statement immediately, and replaced all 4 (maybe 3 because we should have had one back for the break) of the Shockers watching the play. Maybe those players were tired, but that is a reason to replace them too. I don't remember who was in the game at that time, but they should have come out immediately.

        • I would give our performance so far a C with our game yesterday a C+. We did what we were supposed to do for three games and were better last night.

          • I'm starting to lean towards Jackson over Pleasant at the 4. Jackson has more energy, better athlete, better rebounder, better passer. Joe probably brings a steadier presence but his shooting has been almost non existent, probably a wash on D. Joe has more experience and probably makes less mistakes but Jackson has a much higher ceiling.

            • I honestly don't mind Jackson bringing his energy off of the bench. I'd be good either way, but I'd probably lean towards starting the steady PF who still has a fair amount to offer and will knock down shots and bring the change of pace energy off the bench there.

It’s funny that 1976 tool thinks I can’t say one thing nice about Brown yet his corn ass has failed to look in the mirror to see he has had zero positive comments about a former coach. Irony.

You should ask him his predictions on South Carolina this year. He was a Nostradamus in regard to Washington last year. He knows his stuff.

                  • I am willing to give Mo credit that he looked better in the second half and he has been a much better defensive rebounder thus far. Still wildly inconsistent.

Maybe it was just me, but it didn't seem like Jenkins played very much in the second half. Not sure why if that is the case as I thought he looked good.

Dex has played very unselfish basketball these first 3 games and I think it is outstanding.

Monzy is putting on a passing clinic.

Monzy (or is it Monzie?) may be most effective for this team off the bench. He certainly seems to thrive doing that. Either way, I like the things that happen when he is on the court. And that is no dis on Pleasant...he seems solid and I think he'll be a big part of the success this year.

Monzy is head first into his role. He's excited to do all the little things and to make the right passes.
