The attached link will help you draw a relevant comparison between the stature of the MVC when Ralph coached versus Marshall.

Importantly the NCAA Tournament invited only 32 teams during Ralph's tenure; Marshall's teams sought seedings in 64 or 68 team tournaments.
Not ignoring it. What competition do you think Marshall and the Shox played against in the NCAA tournament going 10-7 with a final four and a sweet sixteen? It's apples and oranges and Marshall's record and conference and postseason success is astronomically greater than Miller's and more than bridges the gap between whatever discrepancy there would be in conference toughness. You are just a petty spiteful weirdo who has an axe to grind. Trust me when I tell you that NOBODY with half a brain is supporting your view on this.

      ROFLMAO!!!
He absolutely should be a shoo-in. I'll go ahead and say it.

The entire point of my post was to show that love him or not, there are still tickets that will not be used or bought because he is no longer the coach. That is another factor in why attendance will be down this year. If you agree or disagree with those who ride their fandom on GGG, that is your business, but it will happen.

He is still very popular in this town.

I wish I could agree with you but I’m cranky. Anyway, he is just one of many factors why attendance will be down, which was the point of my post.

          Friends?

My wife would be one of those people. She’s still highly disappointed that 3G is no longer the coach and now doesn’t have nearly the same level of excitement towards Shocker Basketball that she once did. She had the opportunity to be around him many times and always enjoyed the interactions.

              Ralph Miller:
              • 220-133 record at WSU (62%)
              • 81-75 conference record (52%)
              • 3 NIT appearances (basically NCAA's as that was the premier tournament of the day)
              • 1 NCAA Elite Eight
              • From Chanute, KS

              Gregg Marshall:
              • 330-121 record at WSU (73%)
              • 171-55 conference record (76%)
              • 7 NCAA appearances in 12 eligible years
              • 1 Final Four
              • 1 Sweet Sixteen
              • 3 Round of 32 appearances
              • 1 NIT Championship
              • 1 NIT Semifinal appearance
              • From Greenwood, SC
              I’d go with both.

Really wish you would’ve included the Bob Richey resume too.

              ... No really, deuces.

And some of this aspect has to do with the fact that Gregg knew how to kiss the right rings in Wichita. He wasn’t always perfect at it, but he knew where his bread was buttered.

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to downplay or disparage what Miller did. He was a tremendous coach and did amazing things for the Shox. Just, IMO, Marshall is head and shoulders above anyone else when it comes to best Shocker basketball coach of all time.

In case anyone cares, really good tickets are available on the secondary market for $6.00.

This is a fan board and I likely have been rooting for the Shockers more years (63) than you have lived; my problem with some posters on Shockernet is how quickly they resort to name calling and profanity upon discovering another poster has a differing opinion. I will admit that I have a very strong dislike for Marshall and do not think he is a good representative of WSU. Recognizing my bias I try to support my opinion with facts and no name calling.

I chose not to disparage the Shockers in any way but I will point out to you a wide body of non-Shocker fans exist who have as strong a dislike for the man as I do. IMO the 2014 NCAA Tournament bracket is an excellent example of how well these people regard Marshall. As you went out on a limb and posted you believe Marshall will be a "shoo-in" for enshrinement in the Basketball Hall of Fame, I will join you by posting I think Marshall will have a very difficult pathway to enshrinement (if ever). Unless Marshall takes another head coaching job he will be eligible upon turning 60; look forward to learning how well regarded Marshall is as a NCAA Men's Basketball coach.

Ah yes, the ol I've been a fan longer than you play. The plea of a desperate man.

Exactly what facts did you use? You are more than welcome to your opinion, as am I.

Where exactly did I say Marshall will be a shoo in for the HOF?? I believe I said he SHOULD be. Different...

I am not the one "grinding an axe" - go back and read how this discussion got started. A shocker net Marshall booster posted an insupportable statement and I commented it was very debatable. In fact, I was surprised that another shockernet poster supported my position by labeling the original Marshall booster comment as silly.
