Hold on, being told all those bowls she needed were from China and replacements are stuck off the Pacific coast currently.

          Well, let’s see:
-Attendance at college basketball games trending downward before CoVid

-Covid happens and people find out it isn’t bad watching games from their living room

-We lose the best coach we will ever have

-Transfer epidemic alienates more college basketball fans

          -Fanbase is old and fragile

-Mask requirement reinstated at Koch Arena just before season starts.

7-8k for most games is optimistic

I agree. Especially with our fanbase being old and fragile. I know many former season ticket holders that still aren't comfortable venturing out in large crowds, packed in like sardines for a couple hours due to COVID concerns alone. All those reasons above will hurt the attendance, but our old and fragile fanbase just makes the problem worse. I am worried that long term #2 on your list will cause a continued downward trend in attendance. Why pay $1500 in SASO fees when you can watch every game at home in HD for $5 a month- especially when you are old and fragile.

Really? You have made a very debatable statement!

Hands down GGG accomplished more than any other WSU basketball coach - it is not debatable, it is fact.

Not really. Hard to believe we'd have another coach who would accomplish the same things GGG had, let alone do so consistently. If we do, great, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Bob Richey's Paladins are projected to be sub-100 this year after finishing 95 and 98 in KenPom and Torvik last season.

This is extremely sad and difficult. This is probably one of the most exciting teams as far as talent and potential we've had in close to a decade, and the world has taken a giant **** on it. I don't know what it is, but I feel like college basketball as we know it at WSU is being slowly pulled from us and destroyed by numerous outside circumstances and powers that be. The NCAA and realignment, health restrictions, etc. Everything is a pissing contest anymore. Everything comes with strings. Everything has a caveat.

It just makes everything, including excitment for what used to be something I marked my calendar months in advance for, just... meh.

Maybe I just need the games to start and it will then all pop back. I hope so. But society is succeeding in zapping a lot of norms and life into the trash heap of 'remember when....'

Really? Well you're in luck because I just happen to have a bridge for sale, just your size too. And some winning lottery tickets.

Hell, they might even be able to make the tournament this season for Bob's first ever trip to the big dance. That would really show the surefire winning potential of a coach like Bob and surely better than Gregg Marshall who went with Winthrop to the tournament 7 times in 9 seasons.

We are offensively talented (although last year we had lapses where we weren't good), especially in the 1-4 positions. #5 position is decent too offensively although I am more concerned about it, when we go against 7 footers who are athletic..

However, if you look at our best teams (NIT Championship, Final 4, 35-1 year, Sweet 16) were all top notch on defense and rebounding. Cle was our only so-so defensive player but his offense was something we couldn't do without, and made up for his defensive deficiencies. However, Fred, Ron, Tekele, and our 3 Monster Center crew were second to none when it came to defense and rebounding. During those years we were as good defensively and at rebounding as anyone in the country at all 1-5 positions. I'm not sure about that this year.
