Well, like many things Texas, they have heads bigger than reality should allow. They lost a good coach in Barnes, who was handcuffed by playing in a tough conference; that hasn't changed with Smart. I'm not saying they should dial down expectations, but they need to recognize ceilings and break THOSE down. If Shaka was truly feeling heat, he's probably smart to leave on his terms.

I'm still puzzled by Smart's change. I would've thought the Tx gig was a good one; good resources, minimal fan base demands, etc. Is it purely frustration at playing second fiddle to football? I'm not sure I see the Marquette job as significantly better...

Much like their football team, the problems are cultural.
