The thing with this Shocker team is that, generally, it doesn't seem to matter how they play the game comes down to the final few minutes. Now it is a bit of a concern that the Shocks only scored 4 points in the final 5 minutes against USF and 4 points in the final 3 minutes against Cincy in the AAC Tournament. That was a bit odiferous and needs to be corrected by Thursday.

It's just which version of our guards show up! Lol"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

6 refs were sent home
The group — Ted Valentine, John Higgins, Roger Ayers, John Gaffney, Kipp Kissinger and Ray Natili — all went to a downtown Indianapolis steakhouse.
One of them tested positive for COVID-19 when they returned to the hotel Sunday night. That official then tested positive again Monday morning.

Here is what I want to see, regardless of the opponent (Drake, USC...). Gilbert has to run the team with leadership in mind. He must work to get all players involved in the offense. His Marcus Haynes act was old early in the season for me. He must be decisive and make decisions with clarity. Against Drake he should test the waters by getting into the paint. If he gets all the way to the rim, fine, if not dish it to Udeze for a layup or dunk. He also should pull those mid-range shots he has shown to be good at. He should only shoot a 3 if it is in rhythm. Etienne doesn't have to be the hero. Catch and shoot, or if he can put distance between him and his defender to shoot a 3, fine. Just don't shoot with his hips pointed towards China. Play defense and rebound. Dex needs to only catch and shoot, play excellent defense and rebound. Nothing more is expected of him. Wade should only catch and shoot a 3. He can't create, just like Dex. Stay in your lane. Let players like Gilbert and Etienne go find their shot on occasion. Wade will needed to go rebound. He is our only big man that has consistently rebounded. Udeze needs a strong lecture from the coaching staff that he only initiates a move on the low block if he is single covered. When doubled, he is required to pass out of it. Then he needs to do what he does well which is look for the passing gap when a guard gets into the lane. He then will get layups and dunks. He needs to play more than matador defense. I like his ability to recognize the opportunities to draw a charge. He is also doing a better job the past month or so to rebound better. His overall rebounding still looks below average, but he is improving. Jackson needs to bring energy, rebounding, and attack with shooting and slashing when it presents itself. Council needs to be smart at creating, shoot when it is there, rebound and defend with energy. The other bench players need to just stay in their lane and contribute to their strengths.
If this team plays team defense, rebounds and plays smart, the game will come to them and success will be the result. Brown and the coaching staff needs to require execution and accountability. If this teams plays to these characteristics I will take the result. Go SHOX!!!
