  • My next comment is going to be a little controversial...

Whomever our next coach is, I don't wanna start seeing a bunch of white boys on the team. If that happens we are finished. We are not Wisconsin. Marshall went after the athletes, the ballas; and I liked that about him. If he found an exceptional white boy, he took a flyer, but most of those didn't work out. The fast and physical game is a game for the bruthas. Always has been, and always will be... at least for a few more centuries.

Ron was a 6'4 guard with a 6'9" wing-span. And he played his entire career in the Valley. Wessel was our Grant Gibbs. We could hide his weaknesses in the MVC and we didn't need him for scoring or locking down defenders in the dance. He was just the glue guy.

If Marshall were still here, we'd still have the same post players with the same problems. Last year NOBODY could stop dribble penetration from the perimeter. Several games last year the players pretty much mailed it in. There was no Play Angry last year.

You might be thinking of the times when Wessel, VanVleet, Baker, and Cotton were playing. Play Angry left the building when those guys left the building.

Brown inherited a mess that Marshall would have had, had he chosen to stay - he had the opportunity and declined. When there are 5 Sr's on a team (that loses to Marshall in the NCAA tourney) and 10 players transfer in the next two years, it's not going to be pretty. Marshall's stock would have declined seriously had he stayed. He got out before more damage was done to his coaching reputation.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

        • From a talent standpoint 3G has left the program in much, much better shape than what 3G had inherited. I don't think you can blame 3G for the discombobulation that Covid has caused. OTOH, I don't think it is fair to compare IHCIB to some fantasy standard of how 3G would have done if he was still here. I am not convinced that IHCIB is or will be the answer long-term. In fact, I would be a little surprised if that is the case. But for this year IHCIB is our guy and I hope he does well.

BS, way more play angry than this year so far.

3G didn’t decline because of the talent and never would his stock have dropped. Marshall derangement syndrome.

You must have had your feelings hurt by Marshall too. I’m sorry. :(

            • I don't think it's going to be possible for Brown to do well enough to be seriously considered for the permanent spot. It would be great if he could do that, but also surprising. Keeping Brown would probably be the best for player stability. Jans could probably do well with player retention. He would likely keep Gudion and there's a good possibility he might keep Brown.

That will happen when you've only got 8 guys at practice for two weeks and you've got multiple guys trying to learn two positions in two weeks.

It doesn't really matter that you're all sorts of butthurt because Marshall is gone. Marshall is gone. Brown is what we've got. Bitching about it isn't going to make it any better.

Here's something you might want to consider. The money guys, who were paying Marshall's salary, loved him. They saw what was in the report from the investigation. They were willing to put up millions for him to no longer be WSU's coach.

                  Let. It. Go!

                    Have to agree!
People are choosing to forget about how bad the team struggled the first part of last year before finishing strong. Hoping for a somewhat similar situation this year, with so many new players.

I like black athletes. They on average are quicker (muscle fiber composition), jump higher (advantageous leverage/attachment points), and have longer arms and bigger hands (natural selection). Those four things are like using a cheat code for basketball. I like edges; call me kooky.

The presentation was weaker than the basic argument. There were breeding programs in the USA that concentrated on producing bigger and stronger Black people from the 1600's to the 1800's. The same thing didn't happen to white people, so today there are more bigger, stronger and (incidentally) more athletic Black people than White people.

Those bigger, stronger, faster people make better basketball players. There are big, strong, and fast White players, but they are less frequent in their ethnic population and tend to be recruited by the bluebloods.

Cold only thought his post was controversial. I just pointed out how slavery produced today's superior Black athletes. That's going to go over great with a bunch of posters.

                            • Was there any visionary thinking on WSU's part bringing in Billy Kennedy to be here for a year to assist and observe before giving him the reins? Might be a reach, IDK.
