We did turn the rebounding around in the second half, outrebounding UNI by 5 during the last 20 minutes.

I did more than my share of whining following the Temple loss. Tonight, however, makes up for that debacle and puts us right back where I'd hoped to be at this point. Sweeping this road trip was a tall order and the team deserves a ton of credit.
I totally agree with this post.

A lot of Shox fans didn't have a W in Frostbite Falls (aka Baja Canada) as a "must win" type of game, but I think it was. The Shox had to run this road trip or they weren't going to be considered as a legitimate at-large team. This trip had one elimination game and one opportunity game. The Shox took both.

Stutz led us with 9 rebounds to go with his 17 points. Hall had 1 rebound for the game. Where has Hall's rebounding gone? I hope it comes backe to him. Stutz, back or not, played another All MVC game.

          Very good point.

I have been thinking about our Valley schedule for quite some time now. The soft part is over. The tough road is ahead.

Blue Birds at Omaha. Two games with SWMSU.

There have been only 8 games played in the MVC after last night. Shockers are 7-1. We have played the following:
            ....Home Games: 1-2 Opp. W/L 35-23 60.3%
            ....Road Games: 5-0 Opp W/L 45-51 46.8%
            We have these games remaining:
            ....Home Games: 6 Opp. W/L 62-53 53.9%
            ....Road Games: 4 Opp. W/L 52-35 67.5%

The remaining road gasmes are considerably tougher than what we've played so far, but there are only four remaining. The Home games are not only easier, but there are 6 remaining.

Thanks for breaking it down into an easy to understand post.

              • Our February schedule is definately more difficult, but our up-comming road opponents record is skewed by CU. Our previous road opponents is skewed by Bradley. All Valley teams (except BU) are dangerous. Other than CU on the road, we will be favored all the way. We need to, and should, go 2-2 on the road and 5-1 at home. Continued effort and execution will get us to 14-4 or better.

                • Psychologically, last night should be a corner-turner. This team is now on a path to reach very, very lofty goals. Just win and get better every day.

I am very proud of the guys battling last night, and 17-9 from Garrett in the pain he played with, is, well, beyond gutsy. I didn't think they had it in them at the 15 minute mark, and they plowed it right down my throat for doubting their heart.

                  • “Garrett (Stutz) made a great dump-in pass to me,” Murry said. “I got body contact with (Jake) Koch, and I thought they were going to call a foul. I just Michael Jordaned it up.”

Tuttle was 6-6 from the field. Stutz couldn't stop Tuttle from scoring at all is what I probably should have said.

The silver lining to these last two games, beyond the wins, is that Marshall will likely have the team refocus on crashing the boards.

I'm not one to make or accept excuses but GS was not 100%. I've seen him play alot better defense than he did last nite. If GS is 100% when UNI comes to us.....ST won't be 6 for 6

                        • Murry saved our bacon in the game. Did you notice the rest of the team when only 3 minutes were left. They were standing on the perimeter just passing the ball back and forth, back and forth. Murry was the only one that had a sense of urgency and knew that someone had to make a play and get a shot off.

Really, Murry and Ragland are the only players that we have that can make plays happen on the drive. Ragland has proven to be a fine 3 shooter too. Our two other outside theats are not slashers.

                              • If Garrett isn't physically handicapped in that game, he goes for 30 and 15 and you can cut Tuttle's points in half. 3 of his buckets he caught Garrett 15-17 feet from the basket. It's not like Tuttle manned him up in the paint.

Not saying Tuttle is a bad player or anything....he's a good player....as a matter of fact, I'm having lunch with Tuttle this afternoon.

Don't get carried away with useless information. UNI has NO answer for a healthy Stutz.
