One thing that is clear is Coach Marshall is not leaving Wichita State until he is ready to leave regardless of what the run-of-the-mill fan wants or thinks. So basically whatever is expressed on Shockernet are simply opinions and perhaps food for thought that otherwise are of little consequence. Although they perhaps do provide some measure of the temperature of the average fan for whatever that is worth.
Now if fans close up their wallets and quit attending games then you probably draw some serious attention. If that happens then a message has been sent and will be heard. So far that is not happening to any significant degree as far as men's basketball goes. So until that happens I will quote Dusty Springfield, it's just a lot of wishin' and hopin'and thinkin' and prayin'; plannin' and dreamin' by a bunch of people who really love Shocker basketball and want it to be the best it can be.

Let me put it this way. If I were a coach (not at WSU) and could choose between ES and AR I'd take the latter. ES just isn't special (and neither is AR).
This will be my last post on the subject as I've burned all the calories I've got to spend sticking up for this kid, but here goes.
Up until the UConn game this season (when he was playing good) his sophomore season statistics were around 36.3% from 3, 48.1% from 2, and he was averaging about 14 points a game. Not world-beating by any means, but historically pretty good for a sophomore at WSU. When he was "on," he was clearly our best offensive player on the floor, followed by JE. He was also a pretty damn good defender during this stretch, averaging about 1.9 steals per game.
Look, I don't like sticking up for Stevenson that much because I think his dad is trash and thought Erik himself was pretty whiney at times, but this revisionist BS that happens every time a player leaves or voices a complaint is garbage, too. If Stevenson could have figured out his issues and taken that good stretch and put it across the whole season, gotten rid of the bad, bad errors (he also averaged 1.4 turnovers during that same stretch), and made the gradual improvement that a junior and then a senior would normally make, he would have been a pretty great player.
I know it's a lot of "ifs," but it's not beyond the realm of possibility considering he had it pretty close the first 16 games of this season.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

I'd like to not wonder what chemistry issues are facing our team for the 2nd time in 3 years, going through two entirely different groups of players. Think about that; there wasn't a single player on this team that was here in the '17-18 season, yet here we are with very similar issues.
I'd like to not be facing our second "rebuild" in 3 seasons.
I'd like to expect at least top-25 results from a guy making top-13 money.
Like others, I'm not calling for Marshall to go, but you simply cannot overlook the patterns that are developing. I think a healthy dose of criticism goes all around in these cases, players AND coach included. The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Perhaps that decision should be delayed as long as possible to kind of see where all the dust settles and see if the roster sustains anymore significant hits.
Next year was already going to be a challenge with Jaime moving on. Whether or not Erik's departure is addition by subtraction is hard to say for sure. If the team had basically split into 2 factions that is not good. When Erik played well he played very well. When he played poorly he played very poorly. Not much in between. Losing Jamarius may hurt more. Whether or not Jadun Michael can step in to one of those holes as a freshman remains to be seen. How good will Josephat be.next year?
It was a challenging year but at 23-8 and a good shot at the NCAA Tournament I don't think it warrants tinkering with the auto renewal. Especially since the team did not get the opportunity to show what they could do in the post-season.Last edited by 1972Shocker; March 14, 2020, 06:47 PM.
