Sorry, I just don't have a good taste in my mouth after the last 3 or 4 games. Last night is really still lingering in me. That was some fugly basketball. This team has zero ounce of consistency which could be a good thing I guess for Sunday, but I'm not feeling good about it.

    UNLV - 78
    WSU - 69

I dunno where some of the national pundits are seeing this "NCAA Tournament caliber team". They must not be looking hard enough. WSU has done nothing to earn that type of reputation to this point. Our offense sucks. A lot of players on our team are selfish and will not look to certain players. We are throwing up bricks from 3. We couldn't handle a zone if an 8th grade basketball team threw one at us. And I'm a little concerned that some players get overhyped for big games and totally lose control, play crazy, and try to be "heroes". I just don't have good vibes with this one at all. God, I hope I'm wrong. We don't get many opportunities like this one, especially AT HOME. It would be nice to win a "big" game again. In reality, our at-large lives are dependent on this game.

Also, it's nice to see respectable, opposing fans visit here. UNLV has great support and very knowledgeable fans. It's not surprising to see them show that here. After Sunday of course, I hope you guys pull a San Diego State, a la last year.

I have been lucky enough to be at all four games and I can't see us getting blown out. The only loss came at the hands of #23 SIU in 03-04 when we were down 15+ in the first half and came all the way back to tie it up before going on to lose by 5. It is obvious that we have some issues this season but IMO the team will leave those in the locker room for this game. This is the type of game where my voice will be gone for a few days following, the atmosphere will be electric.

That sure is sad that we've only had 4 ranked teams come into Koch in the last 10 years.

That is also a bit sad. I would have expected it to be sold out by now with this type of a game. I'm sure it'll be sold out by game time, but damn.. Then again, the product on the floor hasn't been that nice to watch.

I agree, especially when I go over to the UNLV board and see they are buying tickets and planning trips from out of town.
Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

It looks like a lot of the predictions have us losing by double digits. I guess that means that if we were to play UCSB on a neutral court, we'd get beat by them too.

I look for us to play two good halves and pull out the win.

So...I guess you don't serve beer at the arena. I'll have to get started with Star Bucks then. This game scares the sh!t out of me, I don't know why. Crowd might be the deciding factor perhaps. Bombs away from 3 point land. Hope Moser has another 25 and 13

              Good luck Shockers !!!

We sure don't serve beer at the arena. The last couple years we have played a game at Wichita's downtown arena that serves beer. It was an enjoyable experience.

                  A few thoughts/predictions:

                  1) Last year we couldn't stop the dribble drive. This year Hall (and to some degree White) is mich better at stepping in closing it off. If he can continue to do that against UNLV, that will help tremendously. Its not our achilles heal so much this year.

                  2) @ShockerFever: was strongly opining about us not being able to stop the zone, however in the second half against Fullerton we exploded against their zone -- Rags and Kyles went nuts and Hall had his way with them. ShockerFever is right though in terms of that success being streaky -- but I suppose that's the nature of the 3pt game.

                  3) Players almost always get up for big games. Its why you play, and those games build comradere where there may have not been any. Got a feeling all of our dirty laundy will be put behind us for this game at least.

                  4) No matter whether our offense is firing properly or not I think our D will kick in a bit to keep it close. This has th e ingredients to be a very close game instead of the 10pt+ loss many are predicting.

                  5) If we don't score 70+ pts we lose.

                  6) Toure is many things to our team, but I think one of the things he does very best is play stopper. This could be a legendary battle for him.

Actually the way we are playing we could very well lose to UCSB as well.

UNLV reminds me a bit of SDSU from last season. WSU reminds me of last season minus a big, deep front line. It's not impossible that the Shockers could win, not in Wichita, in one of THOSE games. But..

Lots of lingering respect from the NIT run. Time to earn it.
