  • Pretty much worst case ruling for the rest of the conference. Memphis is allowed to buy a player, but they don't get him in the non con, so they will drop a couple more than then would have only to get him back to play other conference teams.

    • Why are they appealing? Do they think he should not be suspended? Or are they challenging the number of games he is suspended? Does anyone know?

They are appealing cause that’s what the big dogs do that they are trying to be.

        • Probably going to argue that $11k is chump change compared to what UNC, Duke, etc. get away with.

          • 2 years into his coaching career and already a sleaze ball? I’m impressed!

This happened pretty much day one of his high school coaching career. He was just able to parlay it into the Memphis HC gig. It wasn't legal in high school either.

                • Wiseman was also ordered to pay $11,000 to a charity of his choice.

We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Wonder if he can get the money from Penny.

Ok this part of the punishment is f***ing insane. Wiseman probably doesn't have that money, it was used for moving expenses. Basically the NCAA is saying "you aren't even allowed to keep the money. Give it away."

**** the NCAA. Hopefully he can pay it after he goes to the NBA.

I would expect Memphis will get a notice of allegations from the NCAA for knowingly playing ineligible player.

                                Are you saying:
                                • Wiseman and Penny did nothing wrong and essentially a coach should be able to pay for a player to move from one town to another so he can play for him? or
                                • paying for them was an illegal action and they need to pay but not the action the NCAA requires? or
                                • you just hate the NCAA and are railing against them whatever they say? or
Maybe you have another punishment should be submitted by the NCAA but a high school coach cannot be moving players for $11,000. Other family members or friends of families can pay but not coaches. Would you agree?

I don't always agree with the NCAA but a wealthy former NBA player like Penny can buy any player to his high school team and this does appear shady at the least. I'm not sure of the proper consequence but a consequence of some type seems warranted.
