    • DON'T MOCK GREEN BASTARD!
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

      • 1 important thing to know about 25 conferences right now in men's college basketball - NCAA.COM

        MIKE LOPRESTI
        FEBRUARY 3, 2020

"February is when the conference races get serious. No wonder the first weekend of the month had a lot of stories to tell....

        9. Tulsa in the American? Yep, Tulsa
The Golden Hurricane were picked to finish 10th in the conference. They now have first place to themselves — a half-game ahead of Houston and Cincinnati — after an extraordinary stretch. They held conference co-favorite Houston to one point the last 5:30 to win 63-61, blew away the other co-favorite — No. 20 ranked Memphis — by 40 points, and Saturday stunned No. 23 Wichita State 54-51 on Elijah Joiner’s 3-pointer as time expired. That one had 10 lead changes the second half. Why was Joiner weeping afterward? His father was in the stands, watching him play for the first time. The Tulsa story just gets better and better. The last season the Golden Hurricane beat two ranked opponents at home was 1968-69."

        • College Basketball Conference Power Rankings: Why the Big Ten was the best league in the nation - CBS Sports

by David Cobb 6 hrs ago
          posted: 05/05/20, 3:30pm cst

"Looking at which major conference had the best season in 2019-2020

Anecdotally, most agree the Big Ten stood out as the best conference in college basketball in the 2019-20 season as the league was on track to send 10 teams to the NCAA Tournament and placed 12 of its 14 teams in the top 60 of the final NET ranking. But data-based breakdowns paint differing pictures of which league was the best in college hoops this season. After all, there were four leagues that finished with more teams in the top-15 of the NET than the Big Ten.

So while it may be clear that the Big Ten was the nation's deepest league, was it truly the best? We break it down here in our postseason conference ranking. Draft prospects were taken from the latest CBS Sports NBA Big Board, which features the top 75 prospects for the 2020 NBA Draft. Projected NCAA Tournament bids were taken from the final 2020 bracket projection from CBS Sports Bracketology Expert Jerry Palm.

          1. Big Ten...
          2. Big East...
          3. Big 12...
          4. Pac-12..
          5. ACC...
          6. SEC...
          7. AAC - Much of the buzz around the AAC centered on Memphis' No. 1 ranked 2019 recruiting class headlined by James Wiseman and Precious Achiuwa. Wiseman's suspension and subsequent withdrawal from school put a damper on things.

          BY THE NUMBERS
          Non-conference winning percentage: 69.1% (7th)
          Average NET ranking: 94.8 (7th)
Average NET ranking excluding bottom two teams: 76.2 (7th)
Projected Bracketology NCAA Tournament bids: 3 (7th)
          Top 75 NBA Draft prospects: 2 (7th)

It was clearly a down year for the AAC with the adversity Memphis faced and UConn on its way out of the league. Wichita State and Cincinnati are in transition as well. But there's enough tradition left in the AAC for it to compete with the nation's top conferences if it can get its top programs healthy at the same time"

          • Hardaway had possibly the worst results with a highly rated recruiting class - ever - for all time. I remember the words from when the Shox got nailed and Ozell Jones was allowed to transfer without a sitout and Levingston was allowed to declare for the NBA after his Jr year - "there are no jet jobs".

Going from middling good team to national challenger in a short time frame isn't allowed by the coaches and AD's who control the NCAA.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Unless your KU, NC or several others.

              • Houston has the requisites to be a 30-win team - College Hoops Today

                by Jon Rothstein
                May 3, 2020

                "Houston -
Last year’s 23-win squad really could have easily had 26 or 27 victories prior to the American Conference Tournament if its end of game execution was tighter. Houston lost a total of four games in league play by two points or less and simply couldn’t make plays consistently with the game on the line. With another year of experience and nearly everyone of significance expected back, Kelvin Sampson is going to have a legitimate chance to win 30 games for the second time in three seasons. The Cougars won 33 during the 18-19 season when it lost in the Sweet 16 to Kentucky.

Even though both Nate Hinton and DeJon Jarreau are slated to go through the NBA Draft process, the Cougars still plan on having at least one of those players back to go with a returning nucleus of six other players who averaged double-figure minutes last season. The key for Sampson is the return of the 6-5 Hinton (10.6 points, 8.7 rebounds), someone the veteran coach called “the best rebounding guard he’s ever coached” after a win at Temple last season. If Hinton’s back for another year to anchor this team’s small ball attack on the glass then this program has more than a legitimate chance of again reaching the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament.

Houston adds two rotational pieces in Idaho transfer Cameron Tyson, who made 106 three-point shots two seasons ago and redshirt freshman J’Wan Roberts. Top-100 freshman Tramon Mark will also contend for major minutes. Major personnel changes at Cincinnati, Wichita State, and Memphis (Precious Achiuwa) combined with UConn’s departure to the Big East make the Cougars — at least on paper — head on shoulders above everyone else in the American Conference."

That's only 11 non-conference games. Perhaps the AAC is moving to 20 Conference Schedule for next year.

Looks like the AAC should be a little (lot) more involved in the quality of it's schools' scheduling. This kind of sh*t brings the whole conference down.

For example: Reduced/No sharing in NCAA tourney $s depending on how bad the non-con schedule is. Reduction in TV money as it pertains to basketball only.
