In ESPN as a 10 seed, Top of the last 4 byes. So 8 spots into the tourney.

If they win out, their ceiling is an 11 seed with 2 conference losses. If we win out, our ceiling is a 5 seed with 5 conference losses.

They seriously have 1 good win, 2 bad losses and a lot of meh in between. I wouldn't be getting cocky if I were a UNI fan.
And was also asked that I bet I wished Wichita was still in the Valley...umm not even slightly!

          • I have some comfort seeing Virginia 2 spots below us. I have a lot of respect for that program and coach. They've had better and more recent success than us and are in the same boat.

The MVC will get one team in. As ShockRef so aptly finishes his posts....That is all.

He overvalues the NET like he overvalued the RPI.

Although, we are very close to the brink with our lack of standout wins.

Amazing around a month ago we were like a 3 seed in his bracket. I think like SF mentioned, he is probably strictly looking at NET. We were top 10 and now we’re borderline top 50.

                          • Interesting that I'm seeing South Carolina show up in a lot of "first 4-8 outs" on peoples brackets. A few more wins and they could be considered a potential tourney team AND Q1 for us.

They also have a pretty winnable slate of games to finish out the year.

                            • In case anyone enjoys reading about the Wins Above Bubble (WAB) metric, Seth Burn has a great spreadsheet and some great analysis on his site. It uses predictive metrics to subtract the wins an average bubble team would have against your schedule from your actual wins. Seth has used three different predictive sites (KenPom, Massey, and Sagarin) to calculate WAB, and he also has a blended figure on the sheet.

His last two posts are on this subject. WAB is the best way to select and seed a tournament where there is, ostensibly, a pool of 321 teams to choose from. Getting into these quadrant records (even though the NET is an improvement over the RPI) allows for way too much subjectivity.

WAB/SOR is hopefully how the NCAA will seed teams in the future. It makes the most sense.
