What may be of equal importance is getting 4 AAC teams into the dance. If Temple makes it as a final at large then the would be good odds Memphis and WSU make the NIT. If they slide off the bubble then WSU probably gets left out as temple would take an NIT slot. Alternatively, Memphis being a bid stealer probably keeps our chances steady of making the NIT.
So we really need Temple to finish well. Ironically, if Temple and WSU meet in the AAC title game with WSU winning that's probably one way the conference could get 5 teams in the dance. Very, very low odds of that scenario playing out.

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Doesn't the NCAA give home vs away priority to teams who they project will sell the most tickets in the NIT? Meaning, WSU could be a 6 seed but a 3 seed team would have to play at Koch should the NCAA think we'd sell the most tickets?

No. They did away with this when the NCAA took over it. The better seed always hosts unless there is a prior conflict at the hosting venue.
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Is that definitely true, Reaper? Loyola was a regular-season co-champ with Drake (yep, Drake!), although the top seed in the tourney. Does a co-champ get the NIT automatic based on conference seeding, or could they be left out if Drake wins in St. Louis? And what happens if Drake loses, too? In that case, someone is definitely NIT bound, but who -- again, is it based on seeding in St. Louis?
Yes, I agree. Important not to lose focus on what's in their control right now, which is (1) to keep playing well on the road tonight and then -- assuming they take care of #1 -- (2) avoid a stumble against ECU. Wouldn't it be fun if WSU ended up playing one of their old Valley buddies in the NIT?
Saw that. Really unfortunate. Daum really wanted to go out leading SDS to the Dance and gave up better chances for that personal success by sticking solidly with his school.
They'd be the 1st team in ever with 2 losses to JaxState. Can forgive 1, especially with wins at Murray and UCLA and competitive loss to Big10 Champ Purdon't, but 2? Not this NCAA.
It seems we've moved to the "other side" of the name brand bias by moving to the AAC. I think we're in if we beat ECU in Memphis.
We've had a couple games now that weren't up to what the team can do, so it seems they should be ready for some above-the-norm performances. Take care of ECU and then take out UCF and we might get a home game. It seems we match up best with UCF of the conference leaders.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades. We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
