We should probably always hope Minnesota loses, and does so in front of a poor crowd, at least as long as Sherfield is planning to take a visit there.

Lots of games today that will impact our NIT Selection Odds:

Tulane - None bigger then this one today! WSU pulls out the win with the three-ball swish by Dennis. Boom!!!
Butler lost - Nice win for Providence and our SOS
Clemson won - Beats Syracuse at home by 12 points
TCU won - Beats Texas easily, might move Texas to the NIT
Seton Hall won - beats #23 Villanova by 4 points
Auburn won - Picks up a huge win against #5 Tennessee at home
South Carolina won - wins by 20 points at home over Georgia
Mississippi State won - wins at home by 11 points against Texas A&M
Florida lost - loses by 9 pints at #6 Kentucky
North Carolina State won - won by 26 points at Boston College
Georgetown won - won by 2 points at #16 Marquette
Oregon State won - won by 8 points at Washington State
Mississippi won - won at Missouri by 5 points.
Arizona State won or Arizona lost - Either one losing helps, Arizona State beats Arizona by 8

Saint John’s or Xavier - Either one losing helps. Xavier wins at home by 13
USC or Colorado - Either one losing helps. Colorado wins at home by 11
Arkansas - beats Alabama by 12 at home
Utah - beats UCLA at home by 11
Creighton - beats DePaul by 13 at home
Oregon - pulls off the big win at Washington by 8 points
San Diego State - losses by 25+ pints to #17 Nevada
BYU - Down 27 at the half to San Diego

WSU didn't get much help from other teams today and just about blew it to Tulane.

What may be of equal importance is getting 4 AAC teams into the dance. If Temple makes it as a final at large then the would be good odds Memphis and WSU make the NIT. If they slide off the bubble then WSU probably gets left out as temple would take an NIT slot. Alternatively, Memphis being a bid stealer probably keeps our chances steady of making the NIT.

So we really need Temple to finish well. Ironically, if Temple and WSU meet in the AAC title game with WSU winning that's probably one way the conference could get 5 teams in the dance. Very, very low odds of that scenario playing out.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

I just want American teams to dominate once in the tournament. I am less concerned with the overall number (assuming WSU is out).

This won't happen now since we'll be playing Temple in the Quarterfinals if we beat ECU.

What's interesting now is if we beat Temple we probably bounce them off the bubble.

Doesn't the NCAA give home vs away priority to teams who they project will sell the most tickets in the NIT? Meaning, WSU could be a 6 seed but a 3 seed team would have to play at Koch should the NCAA think we'd sell the most tickets?

No. They did away with this when the NCAA took over it. The better seed always hosts unless there is a prior conflict at the hosting venue.

Bradley's win vs. Loyola today kicks Loyola to the NIT as the Autobid. One less slot in the NIT.

Is that definitely true, Reaper? Loyola was a regular-season co-champ with Drake (yep, Drake!), although the top seed in the tourney. Does a co-champ get the NIT automatic based on conference seeding, or could they be left out if Drake wins in St. Louis? And what happens if Drake loses, too? In that case, someone is definitely NIT bound, but who -- again, is it based on seeding in St. Louis?

If WSU wins the next two, I think they are in.

Yes, I agree. Important not to lose focus on what's in their control right now, which is (1) to keep playing well on the road tonight and then -- assuming they take care of #1 -- (2) avoid a stumble against ECU. Wouldn't it be fun if WSU ended up playing one of their old Valley buddies in the NIT?

Actually, Loyola is the 2nd NIT Autobid.

Campbell, #1 Seed out of the Big South Conference Tourney, lost yesterday in the semifinals.

The Dauminator picked up an NIT bid today as well for South Dakota State, unfortunately. That kid deserves an NCAA bid.

Saw that. Really unfortunate. Daum really wanted to go out leading SDS to the Dance and gave up better chances for that personal success by sticking solidly with his school.

Belmont has a decent shot at an NCAA Tourney At-Large invite

And knock 16-loss Texas out? Yah right.

They'd be the 1st team in ever with 2 losses to JaxState. Can forgive 1, especially with wins at Murray and UCLA and competitive loss to Big10 Champ Purdon't, but 2? Not this NCAA.

It seems we've moved to the "other side" of the name brand bias by moving to the AAC. I think we're in if we beat ECU in Memphis.

We've had a couple games now that weren't up to what the team can do, so it seems they should be ready for some above-the-norm performances. Take care of ECU and then take out UCF and we might get a home game. It seems we match up best with UCF of the conference leaders.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
