Our guys haven't been able to get on the field yet this year. We'd probably have to win a National Championship to get money for a baseball indoor facility though.

Thank your lucky stars, Charlie -- if the Shocks had been able to build this a few years ago, they might have landed Charley Boyce instead of losing him to your team.

Indoor Facility

I attended the indoor facility open house last night. WSU AD, Eric Sexton, recognized a lot of the key people who helped make it happen including a number of people from Bombardier Lear Jet. He also mentioned the Pres of the WSU SGA since the student body made a $1 M pledge to complete the $3.7 M campaign for Phase 1 which involves the Indoor facility. Gene Stephenson introduced his 10 Srs & made it clear that he is expecting a lot of all of them. He is also very optimistic about the upcoming season which is most unusual for him! Hitters are now facing live pitching during their indoor practice sessions, but I didnt' find out how that works. Do they hit away and let the balls bounce off the wall of the facility or what?

The WSU softball coach, Mike Pernarcio, also expressed his gratitude for the new facility since his team also practices there, too.

The whole thing is enclosed by screen. Plus the tarp around the "outfield" is pretty thick. So yeah it is hit away but I dont think any damage can be done.

Lindsie Mtts has a great name for a softball player. I'm not sure how good of a hitter Lindsie is, but she is definitely no Marla Hooch when it comes to aesthetics.

Tonight is the dedication of this great addition to our proud program.

A state of the art indoor practice facility.

BASEBALL IS IMPORTANT AT WSU. The corporate sponsors and members of the public that stepped up during tough economic times to assure our facilities are SECOND TO NONE are proof of that.

A lot of people on this board gave $$$ to see this become a reality.

I looked at it before the game. It is very nice. There were a lot of other people touring at the same time, including a few them who were wearing purple.
