I expect us, as fans, to welcome Ridenhour and GheyU back to the Eck on May 6th just as elegantly as Mr. Riden-openwide-hour would.
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

Baylor's basketball team has now caught up with KU as the best in the Big 12.

I thought I heard Tweety Carter say that KU is on the decline, while Baylor is going up. KU came into the game all cocky with there white uniforms, like they thought they owned OKC. And now will begin the era of dominance for Baylor Basketball over KU!!!!!!!!!

Maybe we should use the KU excuse that this game means more to them and we are in a no win situation, if we win we were supposed to win and if we lose than it looks bad on us. If I add some ums and uhs, then I could make it sound more like Bill Self.

          GO BAYLOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THERE ARE FLOCKS OF BIRDS AND MANY A CAT ------ BUT ONLY ONE WUSHOCK!

Hopefully this lights a fire under the team. All anyone wants is to see a little passion out on the field. Lately they look more like the Dominicans in the WBC.
Ridenhour earned the right to pop-off and the Shox did NOTHING to shut him up. I'm ready to see a "SHUT-UP" performance from the Shox offense and the bullpen.

              --'85.
Agreed we did nothing to shut his trap but I'm not sure I want our guys popping off in a similar manner. There's the old adage "act like you've been there before."
I guess they can't really act like they've been there before...since they are KWho and they never have been there or anywhere when it comes to baseball. Price is still working on his "rebuilding" project after having been there for all these years. By the end of the year, the Shox will be where they usually are (in the postseason) and KWho will be where they usually are when it comes to baseball (playing with themselves).

Karma affects everybody...maybe Toupecos Bill should thank Ridensour for the loss.
Because Denny Crane says so Dammit!

                  Popping off

Everyone has the right to pop off, 85 -- but some people have the class and grace, as well as intelligence, not to, even those who (like Ridenhour and his KU teammates) haven't "been there before."

If this is an indication of Ridenhour's mentality, I can see why he thought, as he was quoted in the article, he'd relate better to the KU coaches than to WSU's. You wouldn't hear this kind of adolescent BS from a Shocker, whereas judging from Price's comments it sounds like it fits right in at the University of Northeast Kansas.

Seriously man... I wouldn't bet the house on that this year.

As for KU baseball, they'll take their place as the perineum of the B12, as usual. Must suck to see your season as an uphill wash after your high point in freaking March. Enjoy Lawrence, and don't forget to bathe and use deodorant on your way to the hippie protests. When your KU girlfriend refuses to shave, give me a shout and I'll send you some free razors.

I'm not sure about that. I remember old Shocker players, especially when they played OK State, pop-off during the game. Like when Mike Lansing jacked a homerun and while he was rounding third base said some nice things to the OK State coach and bench. Perhaps Gene, as he has gotten older and wiser has instituted more restraint in his players.

Regardless, I hope these KU comments light a fire under these guys so they understand that teams aren't just going to lay down when they see the word 'Shockers' on the jersey and Mean Gene on the baselines. These guys are going to have to play that much harder because teams this year see us as being vulnerable.

                        KC

Well, KC, there's quite a difference between guys popping off during the game, on the field where anything is fair game and bench jockeying is an art form -- especially against a genuine rival there's reason to dislike like the old OSU teams -- and being a childish jerk.

I don't think we'd see a Shocker do anything so foolish or immature in an interview, but I have a hunch even the older, wiser, and mellower Gene doesn't mind if his players pipe up during the game. In fact, it wouldn't totally surprise me to hear Gene himself say or word or two to, shall we say, the appropriate parties during a game.

Here's a kid who's got a few hard lessons coming to him in the future, I just hope it's soon so that fat head of his doesn't explode.

Would any of you guys react any different if you were a 18 year old freshman and just beat Arkansas and WSU almost back to back. Especially if you three hit the shockers and shut them out?
