IIRC, just last year in the super-regional, a player was not given first base because he made no effort to get out of the way.
I understand the difference between leaning in vs. just standing there.
Then that ump was wrong. You can just stand there and take the hit and should be awarded the base. So therefore KWJ was awarded the base correctly and wasn't "given" anything by the ump.
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!
I've been reading these message boards all weekend because I like to get an insight at the opposing fans, and honestly, I realize you guys are losing and you are upset but some of the claims you guys are making here are just plain ridiculous.
I guess these are the sort of comments that FSU fans aren't really meant to see and I guess fans will be fans but some of you need to step back and think that maybe, just maybe, there isn't a big conspiracy.
There are always some diehards that get out of hand (here and everywhere) but what claims are rediculous (except those that say we are still going to come back and win? ;-) )?
Seriously rarely say this, but someone needs to wear one. Stealing 2nd? BS.
If WSU was up 10-4 would you want the Shox to keep scoring? I would have.
IA, but I've seen us up this much and about the only time we steal with this kind of a lead is when we have scrubs in / wild pitches.
Answer the question. It is either yes or no.
I said I agree. Yes, I would want WSU to score. I like 3000 to 0 games. But there is a difference between hitting and scoring and stealing.
Fly out. one down.
WSU has continued to steal this year when they had measurable leads - Elliot was fond of saying something like "if the other teams promise to stop scoring runs".

i don't think we think theres a conspiracy. you guys are better. period. but it feel better to talk about the few things that were borderline. even if things had bounced our way, we'd have lost anyway. we needed better approach from our pitcher and the same from our hitters. niether came through.
with that said. we're not being to ridiculous. most posts i've seen are semi reasonable/realistic.
Only time I remember players stealing with a lead like this is when we have had benched our normal guys.
It only matters today if we lose 11-10 in the 9th.....otherwise doesn't really matter.

that ump was right. the rule states you have to make an effort to get out of the way.
