As I have said before, I thought Walker was a questionable hire and he has done nothing from a fan's viewpoint to change that for the better.
I ageee 100% ShockTalk. Obviously noone is thrilled with where this program is and im not going to dive into it now. But i do know that butler is recruiting the pitchers. Look at the past guys we had, tim kelly, josh smith, kris gardner, brummet, labrie, ladwig and Elam. None of them were flame throwers but had command and understanding of pitching. I dont put any of this on kemnitz, and just to be clear kemnitz is not my favorite guy so im not just sticking up for him because i like him

The pitching was good today. Willie Schwanke (7 innings) and Cody Tyler (2 innings) combined on a 5 hit, 9 K, 1 BB shutout as the Shocks knock of Sam Houston State 2-0.

      Nice work Willie and Cody.

Grayson Jenista delivered both runs with a 2-run double in the 4th.

Welp, now that basketball season appears to be close to over, I'm back here to see that things are going just peachy.

The New Mexico team that swept us last week gave up 33 runs to Dallas Baptist today in a 33-8 loss. That bodes well for us on a multitude of levels.

Butler sucks and Sexton sucks even more. Where are all the Sexton pumpers now? Yep, thought so.

Oh come on, the Lobos had home field disadvantage and almost mounted a comeback in the 9th so the score is a little mislea ... well the Lobos equipment manager said he used starch instead of softener in an interview, so this game isn't really indicative of ... uhh ... anything. Really.

Butler seems to be able to recruit hitters.Maybe Brentwood should have a little input on the arms he coaches. That said Schwanke and Tyler were nails yesterday.Curious to see how Zach Lewis does today and how deep he can go.

I wonder if HCTB will have to make a change at some point and will let Kemnitz go to try and save face? Even if we can't fire HCTB the AD should mandate that he hire Hooper at the end of this season!
Kemnitz had his contract in hand before HCTB was hired. That being said, I'm not sure that HCTB has the authority to let Kemnitz go.

While HCTB is doing most of the recruiting, PCBK does have input and has done, at the very least, some of pitching recruiting. Unfortunately they both seem to only be interested in guys that throw 90+ instead of being able to locate their pitches. If you watch the games close enough, no one is throwing on the inside of the plate effectively. It appears that in situations that would indicate a pitch inside, the pitch is ending up over the meat of the plate which in turn ends up deep in the outfield....

Shox already down 1-0 on a fly ball miscommunication that was ruled a hit but should have been an error imo. The 4 hole hitter hit a weak ground ball that just got through the infield scoring the run.

Lewis looks promising so far as he struck out 2 in the first.

                    • And with 2 on, 2 out in the bottom of the 1st, Troutwine looks at 3 straight pitches down the gut without even moving the bat from his shoulder. Good grief he is killing us this weekend.

                      Shox down 1-0 after 1.

                      • With the wind today, it could be a high scoring affair. Home Run Derby winds for right handed hitters.

                        • Still 1-0 after 4. Things will get interesting now though. For reasons unknown to me, Lewis is pulled after 4 and the bullpen is back to work.

Naturally, Tyler Jones gives up a single to the first guy he faces, but makes up for it by picking him off first then striking out the next hitter.

                          • Well that escalated quickly. It's now 7-0 Sam Houston in the 6th. If Jones had any help behind him defensively, he would have been out of the inning 4 batters ago.

Only 2 errors on the board officially, but the Shox have misplayed about 4 other balls that probably should have been errors.

Can't blame HCTB or the pitching for this 6th inning debacle. He can't go out and field for these guys.

                            • Another golden opportunity wasted. Bases loaded, 1 out and Eaton strikes out swinging then Rader looks at 2 cock shots, again without getting the bat off the shoulder.

This team has absolutely no clue

                              • The low/lack of baseball IQ is what is most troublesome with HCTB's teams.
