If he doesn't turn it around the rest of the year I will consider the hire a failure and we need to cut our losses. He will need to finish at least third in the league and have a winning record overall to keep his gig one more year in my opinion. I think the chances of that are about as good as me liking one of KCShox's posts but I guess there is faint hope
Hoop couldn't even get a sniff as an assistant. That's criminal

It also reduced his alimony more than you and I probably make combined.

On the other hand, if he is indeed enjoying retirement more than he ever thought, maybe he wishes he had done a few things different over the last couple of years like adding Hooper as a HCIW. I'm also happy for him.

Again, if you have been reading, we are holding him to the same higher standards that we did with Gene after Butler's 2 year grace period. I don't think anyone liked the 7 year contract. If that what it was taking to get even someone with Butler's experience and background, then I definitely would have gone for Hooper or Standiford.
I have no regrets about my position on Gene. He was his own worst enemy. By the way, Gene said he wanted to continuing coaching right after the change. I haven't heard anything, so maybe you have. How many of those job offers have you seen? Surely someone doing such a great job would be overflowing with offers.
Whatever makes you happy. Butler is turning this thing into the Drake of basketball. Embarrassing. The former AD should pay the buyout out of his personal bank account. It's criminal.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Originally posted by WSUwatcher View PostIf you're right about that, KS, Butler needs to get the heck away from the pitching and let Kemnitz do his job before the pitching staff costs Butler his own job, because whatever else can be said about him one way or another, Brent has a better handle on every aspect of pitching than Butler could ever hope to have. Except for a very few games (I'm counting them on one hand and still have fingers left over), this staff is impressing no one so far and has frankly been pretty frightful -- certainly nothing resembling the first 35 or so years of Shocker baseball's current incarnation.

The program is a danger of falling off. The new AD needs to step up and make it clear that a return to prominence is of the upmost importance.
We all know basketball is king now, but WSU baseball still has some cache and they to react while that is the case. The Assman

What's cool is drinking beer with your buddies on the hill while watching GOOD baseball. To keep the students involved we need to rein in the Hill Nazi's, add in more Coleman pavilions that have satellite tv's, and built in propane grills. Add in a play ground area discretely built in that has slides going down the hill with an AstroTurf area where kids can stay out of the mud, play catch etc, and can't escape. Yea, but mostly just win again.
