None of Gene's players will get hired while that jack wagon Sexton is there. I think he takes pride in destroying his legacy.

I think Gene and Sexton's relationship being frosty is evident.. Jody Adams has to sit next a psychologist on the bench and that build up never required a firing.

As to the question asked in the title of this thread I think that Todd Butler gets one more year if there is no improvement, if the results of the team improves next year he will get another year. If the team is not at least sniffing an MVC championship in his fourth year (getting back to where the baseball team was when he was hired) then he will be gone.

I expect HCTB will get at least 3 more years. Then they could buy him out for $600,000. I don't see them buying him out form $1.2 million at the end of next year.

While I'm not sure that Sexton is taking pride in destroying Gene's legacy, I will say that I think Sexton is a terrible AD and has absolutely no clue what he's doing. I've thought he was over his head from the beginning, and I still think that. Regardless, he is the AD and whether I like it or not, I have to trust his decisions, right or wrong.

I don't think we have to trust his decisions but we do have to accept them and live with them (at least I have no power to do anything about them) and hope they don't come back to haunt us.

I suppose by far the most important thing ADES has done is keep 3G on the Shocker payroll. That will buy him a lot of leeway everywhere else.

I have not seen the contract so I am just going on the basic terms reported by the Wichita Eagle.

No mention of a flat boyout amount like Jody Adams has which leads me to believe he would be owed would his base salary times the number of years remaining on his contract. I assume Eric Sexton negotiated his contract. Eric most certainly signed the contract on behalf of Wichita State.

BTW, I calculated HCTB's buyout assuming the above is true and using his initial base salary. However, I am sure he probably has annual raises built into his contract., So the buyout numbers I stated are minimums and very likely would be higher in actuality based in his base salary at the time of a buyout unless there is an overriding buyout clause that has not been reported.

As I said we don't have to trust Eric Sexton's decisions but we do have to live with them.

I actually expect two years from now people will be calling in to show (with their panic voices) telling him how great he is and how they hope he decides to stay in Wichita.
