Nothing personal, but I guess you haven't been following along the past 10-20 years and noticed what for-profit and certain no-name tiny private schools have done with the concept of legitimate higher education.

Name the degree you want, the accrediting body you are willing to stoop to, give up a few weekends and evenings and - BOOM! - you're a college graduate. None of this nonsense of 4-5 years of your life spent with 20 hours a week on a college campus and another 20-40 hours a week at home studying.

    • Well I thought it was a mute point - somebody said that Hooper did have his degree (or maybe I dreamed it).

        Moot, not mute.

Some say he has it. Others have said he doesn't have it. But I don't recall ever seeing either claim substantiated. I may have just missed that though.

          • All I know is that I am ready for Hooper! The sooner the better.

Yep and you should see some of the Master's programs out there. I've seen more time and effort required to get a drivers license. But if you have 20 or 30g what does it matter?

Friends is not a money school though. Not even close. Affluent families in this area send their kids to Washington in STL, Baylor, TCU, SMU, KU (for whatever irrational reason), and so forth. The kids going to NAIA schools aren't from money; they're from small town, middle-class families who have some weird bent towards tiny private schools no one has heard of outside of 150 miles of the school. They are willing to pay a 300% premium to get taught by faculty that wouldn't stand a chance at the same position at any of the state schools. Respective salaries reflect this disparity. An accounting professor for example at WSU is making a hell of a lot more coin at 21st and Hillside, than his equivalent does at Friends - and that's assuming Friends even has a single person on staff with a doctorate in accounting (I'm not sure they do).

Friends' cash cow is the adult accelerated BS you and I are both referencing, which in the vast majority of case is paid for by employers. You know, because if your head sheet metal mechanic has a degree in something you've never heard of, that took 6 months of Saturdays to complete, he's a much better candidate for promotion into the office side of things.

                • Here you go in a week, http://www.college-degree-fast.com

                  Bachelor Degree for $399.00

The head coach at the University of Tenneese has one, why not?

                  • According to this article, neither Rutgers nor the NCAA requires a head coach to have a bachelor's degree.

If a school with the academic reputation of Rutgers doesn't require that, why would Wichita State?

Question: Do we know for a fact that Wichita State has such a requirement?

Maybe a request for clarification should be sent to AD/VP/Dr. Sexton.

As for a change, I am all for it. I was for it, before it bacame popular to be all for it. Actually, I was for it two years ago.

The total collapse of a once very fine baseball program. It doesn't seem possible. And I see zero light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm pretty sure they are still digging the tunnel. Unfortunately, I'm also pretty sure they are pointed the wrong direction as they dig.

                          • Maybe it is time for HCTB to start acting more like HCJA. Throw some abuse in there, of any kind, start winning some ball games, then you won't have to worry about losing your job. Too soon I know, but everything WSU has me in a sour mood right now. Well, except for men's basketball of course

                            • Hooper played four years here, so the guy should only be a few credits shy of getting his degree right? At most, his missing credits are in the teens? If he really wanted to show the WSU administration his desire to be a top contender for the head coaching gig, wouldn't you expect him to attend night school or take online courses to finish his degree? Easier said than done sure, but if WSU is really hung up about the degree thing and if Hooper is really close to attaining it, I don't see why Hooper would not want to sacrifice his time a little bit in the short term to get er' done.

                              • If you heard Hooper on the Shane Dennis show you would know that it will prolly take Sexton leaving for him to come. He seemed a little salty over the fact that the told him the wanted someone with college coaching experience. I don't blame him either. Sexton and the Dean are shady politicians.
