  • Gm 31 - at KSU

WSU (16-14) losers of 6 of their last 8 travel to K-State on Tuesday.

KSU (RPI 61) has had a disappointing start to their year (1-7) and then solid string of games (12-0) and now during the start of B12 conference play are 5-5 (conference + Non-conference). The have lost the OU series 2-1 and are playing KU this weekend and are 1-1 and losing the third game at this writing. K-State strength this year has been their hitting and weakness has been their pitching. Struggled on the road (4-9) and hard to be defeated at home (11-1).

Stat Comparison don't include Sunday games.

    BA - 0.302 (0.285)
    OBP - 0.407 (0.362)

Coach Butler said they 0 for 27 with runners in scoring position since the KU game.

Coach said the theme going forward the rest of the season is play "Happy, happy, happy...." and get on a roll

      Play Happy?

We're modeling ourselves around the Creighton basketball team? Ew.

You can sense that HCTB must think that his team is in a somewhat fragile state of mind at this point. 0 for their last 27 with RISP could definitely do that to team. Furtermore HCTB must believe he can catch more bees with honey than he can with vinegar in this particular instance. In any case he seems to have a natural proclivity to take a positive approach. I have no issues with that at all. Whether this team can or will respond or not remains to be seen.

Let's hope we see some positive progression between the lines tonight against KSU.

        Go Shocks.

Tonight's game is on Cox KS22, if anyone has the stomach for it.

I tend to agree. But that's been the status quo for 6 years. One of these days I think someone, be it player (someone like Ladwig or Gillaspie) or coach, is going to need to flip their proverbial crap to elicit some sort of response from the team. Even if it doesn't work out great in the short term, something has to change.

When you're 0/27 with RISP, I'd rather see guys going up taking 3 hacks trying to take their anger out on the outfield fence and striking out, than standing there and striking out looking like we did all weekend. Any sort of emotion that shows someone in the program still cares would be a welcome sign.

Shox manage 1 on a double by Micah Green, but they fail to get Green in from 3rd with 1 out. It looks like they'll need all the runs they can get, as Palmer struggled and gave up 2 in the first.

              Pretty futile right now offensively.

We have extended our streak to 0 for our last 30 with RISP. Green's RBI double game with a runner on 1st.

Tough call on a bunt single. Probably should've been out on a nice play by Simpson. Instead, KState comes through with a 2-out RBI single. Shox really can't get much to go their way right now.

Bayliff homers to leadoff the 4th. 3-2 KSU.

Shox are hitting with some occasional pop right now, if they could just combine it with runners on, the runs would start piling up.

Parker HBP to restart the inning.

It's time for The Shox to break out.

The Shox should run recklessly on these guys. Slow to the plate, no arm behind the plate.

Parker on 2nd with 1 out. 2 more chances.

And strikeout looking. That's shocking. Lazy fly ball. This is beyond sickening.

0-33. Green struck out looking. The pitch appeared to be in the other batter's box.
