You might let MK know. He said after the basketball team scored over 80 points that it will be 20% off @ Tad's.

Or do you just tell them at Tad's that you want the 40% off for the baseball score and not the 20% off for the basketball score?

SS is a VERY difficult position to play relative to all of the other positions. We started
two very young inexperienced players so I am not at all surprised with the errors
being the first games of the season. Nothing to be alarmed about.

I'll give you an extra error in your debut. Stuff happens. But the fact that every player put out there up the middle found a way to 2 errors in few chances is something to be alarmed about. A .906 fielding percentage is something to be alarmed about. Especially when all of those errors came in low-pressure situations.

Now, I firmly believe this will get under control when we get some regulars back. That said, does that really give you much confidence in any defensive replacements if needed later in the season, for whatever reason? After all, they'll be just throwing some inexperienced player into the fray unexpectedly, same as now.

I got nothing but love for the boyz in this one. This is the type of beat down I expect to see from us on a low level D1 program. Now, 11 errors in three games is pretty sad, but as long as those errors don't contribute to a loss I'm right as rain.

Cdizzle - like I said, nothing to be alarmed about. Reporter to HCTB : Is MIF defense a
concern? HCTB, " Nah, it's not".

Although on the radio show last night Butler did say something like, if they're taking 500 ground balls a day now and have a need to do so, they'll bump it to 1000.

He stated that he thought once Baker, Harbutz, and Parker - 3 Seniors on the infield - get back, that defensive concerns should lessen. He was, however, pleased with Zimmerman's performance behind the plate last weekend.

I really enjoyed listening to coach Butler last night; I think we have a 'keeper'!

That is exactly what I came away with. Very even keel and I was amazed at how when answering a question he also threw in the reasoning behind the answer. And more times than not there were a whole lot of things that go on with every decision they make. Like his saying the "an active bat is a dangerous bat". Meaning you don't hit many if its still on your shoulder.

                          Agreed.

I got the impression that we might hear more of the tactician with Coach Butler than the previous coach. I don't think coach will be afraid to allow us to peek behind the curtain at times. This is good - there are a whole bunch of very knowledgable baseball fans in Wichita and I think Coach's attitude will help engage more people as the season progresses.

The scheduling discussion was interesting. I think there are doors open to the program now that had been closed for a while. We should see mose of the programs within busing distance on the schedule, I think, plus continuation of some of the better matchups with LBSU, Az. St. etc. when possible.

I wonder if Arkansas will now be open - that opportunity had been closed down since the Ark. regional fiasco.

Butler talked about it being a possibility. It is not set yet, but I got the impression that the feeling would be it would be mutually beneficial to both programs.
