I probably know more about this fan base than you.
I bet they average 3 squares a day, have a BM every 26.4 hours, stops to honor a funeral precession, sings the Elmo song in the shower and prefers Coke over Pepsi. I also bet my dad can beat up yours (if he were still alive).

It isn't required to attend as many games as you to have an opinion on this. I know you are hurt by Genes firing, but your statement isn't that of a real fan. I am assuming you are still going through your grief, which is understandable. If you follow through however, those 36 years meant nothing.

I am pretty nervous about a guy who couldn't do any better than 6th place last year in the super weak WAC. I guess after watching Shocker baseball for 36 years and NEVER seeing us do that bad, I can't phantom that possibility.

As far as candidates go, I have known Eric for a long time and I am confident he and Brent are doing their due dillegence and will come up with a great coach. I hope the name we are hearing is NOT the one they hire. I would be very disappointed in both of them if that happens. If he is one of several candidates they have looked at, no problem. Hopefully we will do better.
The Shox were 30-27 in 2009 and 11-7 in conference. Not much better than 30-30.

          Last 5 years comparison:

Gene: 59.55% winning, 2 regionals (as auto bid), 0 super regionals. No regional finals.

Dan Heefner: 61.38% winning, 3 regionals (as at large), one super regional. Also, made regional final all three times.

At a school with no tradition, resources, conference affiliation, salary or budget to speak of. Talk about doing more with less.

Look, we have no idea whether Heefner is going to get this right now. But I think he's a very, very qualified candidate who is also a model citizen and helluva salesman. We're not the only ones contacting him for an interview.

            • He's being talked about for the auburn and Iowa positions for sure, and probably many more.

I am probably a little skewed too because I remember watching Dan Heefner play baseball at UNI. It is hard for me to think of anything good baseball wise coming from Northern Iowa.

For those of you who didn't watch a baseball game there, it was a horrible place.

                • Who are the ones still playing that ADES might be waiting to talk to? Anyone? Without them, this should get done pretty quickly.

                  • Home run Hire or go with somebody from the Shocker family, those are the only two things that will gel the fan base. Anything else will be viewed with disappointment. Maybe Heefner pays off in 5 years, but as for butts in seats in next year, he barely moves the needle.

It's not my fault I've had the opportunity to work in the MVC, Big12, NBA and learn how things are really done.

Keep supporting the program. Cuz, I don't know a damn thing.

What did the NBA and Big 12 think about ebay fraud?

Just cut this **** out and realize this is a fan board. You don't have to try to big dick everyone and one up them with nonsense if they disagree with you.

Not a comment on who should be hired, but ultimately it is the results on the field that puts butts in the seats. The hire needs to be the one those doing the hiring believe will have the best success regardless of the initial fan reaction. If you made the right move, the fans will come around. If you made the wrong move, fans will forget their initial enthusiasm pretty quickly.

Can't argue with that. However, I do think that the fan base and donors will be much more patient with a family hire or big name guy with proven results. 3 years of modern Gene ball by a Heefner type and the pitchforks will be out again.
