BK was quoted as saying it would be a "big time" hire. Is BK willing to put his career on the line for Heefner? If it fails, BK will get the pink slip. So will Sexton. If you're going to miss, it better be Shock & Awe. I don't see paying Heefner $350-$400K. If you go outside the family, there are better people.

Dan McDonnell -- Louisville. Salary was $140,000. We will pay.
Cliff Godwin -- Ole Miss. Coaching stop at LSU. Big time recruiter & big time hitting coach.
Dave Perno -- Fired at Georgia. 3 College World Series at Georgia. Salary $450K at UGA. We can do that.
Chris Lemonis -- Asst Louisville. One of the top hitting coaches in the country.

      This is CWS or bust.

Louisville coach isn't coming here. Don't tell me an assistant is a big name? please, also they may have backgrounds at lessor schools that I don't know of but don't ever brag about an SEC assistant being a great recruiter. It's the SEC and it's baseball, sort of goes hand in hand.

Ironically Heefner is a great hitting coach, is a big name among the young college baseball coaches, recruits talent.......oh and has actually proven success as the head guy.

                • Oregon State's Pat Bailey is probably a no. Pat Casey has been hinting at retirement for several years and Bailey is probably the successor.

I did not say the Louisville coach would come here. The point is, the new guy better have some CWS experience either as a player or coach. Heefner has 0 CWS appearances. 0 Super Regionals won. It won't fly. Shocker Baseball has lost 900 season ticket holders. A Dan Heefner does not inspire those people to come back. They will do what they are doing now -- stay home and wait and see. WSU can't afford that.Trying to sell a season ticket package based on "Coach's team was 9th in the country in homeruns" doesn't sell. Somebody who has no experience with the CWS, media requests, etc etc doesn't belong here. That's not arrogance, this just isn't on the job training.

                  • I'm just trying to figure out who's still coaching on a team still playing. If indeed ADES is waiting on his pick to finish playing out his season.

                        Yet you suggested several assistants?

Coaches already making the CWS are not going to come to Wichita State, get over it.

Funny with your silly demands, Marshall would have never been considered for Basketball. Would have been some KU, Duke, UNC, UK assistant.

                        • IMO, WSU has the $$$, the facility, the tradition, and the fanbase to make a "no risk"- proven winner hire. I understand that there is always some risk but we should be able to get a coach who has been there - done that as far as the CWS goes. Otherwise, we should just stay in the family.

                          • Local sports anchors are bailing on the Air Capital Classic practice rounds to investigate the story.

Go back a few years, 2006 to be exact. Check and see who first said Gregg Marshall. When I returned from Greensboro, I said 3G was the man. A full year before Turg left, I nailed it.

It ain't bragging if ya get it right.

                              • Seems like this would be a good hire to me. You should look at the body work. Similar to hiring Marshall is basketball. (who only had one NCAA win before coming to WSU)

I understand the concerns, but he seems very solid - and better than an assistant.
