  • Hooper probably is the top candidate but Hill does have a very good relationship with Kemnitz. The Shocker coaches were instrumental (they recommended him) in his being hired by Weiser when he was at KSU, who has a great relationship with the baseball staff too. Hill probably won't be interested but KSU isn't a slam dunk to have a great program for the next 10 years. With the right coaching staff, WSU could overtake KU and KSU in any given year(s) very shortly.

Don't sell Hooper short though. He is a young 35 year old who is very impressive to talk to. He obviously knows baseball, is a tireless worker, has great energy, excellent leadership skills, and in my opinion could go into a living room and sell parents/players on WSU without any problem.

    • I vote for Sexton. This "Trigger" guy comes here and for his 29th (whoo-hooo) post say that "Sexton is going to take the easy way out." Yeah, Eric Sexton has surely already taken the easy way out, hasn't he. He put his name out there to be vilified by a portion of the fanbase just for giggles. He had the balls to make a tough decision (one that has been a while in coming) and what he gets from some is a lot of "how could you do that?" Eric Sexton will make the best choice possible and he won't rush it.

Hey, hope you're right and as said before, I hope I'm wrong. Post #30! Sweet.

          Not going to happen IMHO.

I'd be fairly depressed if we hired Hill, actually. He's having a great year, but his overall tenure at K-State has been pretty mediocre. If all it took was an SR appearance to qualify, we'd already have the DBU coach sitting in his office at Eck.

                +1

Hill does not impress me. Typical flash in the pan. I would be disappointed if he is the guy.

I don't see Brad Hill leaving the big 12 to coach in the Valley. It just isn't going to happen. He has a great situation at K-state. The only thing he lacks is a large stadium, which with their huge football money he will get.

Keeping BK tells me they are going to hire someone without much experience. It worked for WSU hiring Gene but he was an assistant at a very good college program and it could work again but isn't the WSU program worth more than taking chances? Please hire a guy that has done all the things required at the college level.

Anyone in their right mind would want Brad Hill but Brad Hill would be stupid to take this job. He now has the dominant program in the state which seems impossible. He honestly has one of the best programs in the Big 12 so him dropping levels to come to WSU and the MVC is ridiculous. On top of that you then force Brad to take our PC. Forget tradition, it's about where the programs are at right now. I don't think Brad would waste his time rebuilding a program. All he's lacking is a plush stadium. He'll get it.
I am not in my right mind.

Hill = Zero chance of being the next WSU coach

In a nut shell, I believe there was serious concern about a ‘mass exodus’ if nobody from the current staff was retained.

If I changed one thing in your post, it would be "Hill-never in a million years."

I have no idea where the falling down love for Brad Hill came from.

                          • I don't think the new coach will be a former shocker player, ades wants a clean break from Gene, he will go with outside guy.

I was told eric fired everybody, then someone called and told him to keep bk, in the short run bk needs a job and wsu needs recruiting class in tact, long term we will see how bad
either wants to be with the other.
