In my opinion, WSU was a top-25 power up to 2008.
In addition to the two Super Regionals in a row, WSU did make Regional finals at Rice, Tennessee, OU and Arkansas. They were very close to winning the OU and Arkansas regionals.
The MVC isn't great now, but I don't see why it couldn't rebound. It seems that Il State, Indiana State and Missouri State are all on the cusp of being tournament quality teams. And then there is Dallas Baptist.
The WSU job is still a top-notch job. Go to a game at KSU and tell me that a reasonable person wouldn't consider WSU a step up. The mighty Big 12 got three teams in the tourney.
If Gregg Marshall can take the basketball team to a Final Four, then . . . big things can still happen with WSU baseball.

I listened to Bruce Heartle relay the info that other coaches do not see this staff on the recruiting trail as often. Coaching friends in KC area say same thing. JT became increasingly neglecting to give hitting instruction to players (practicing for the senior golf circuit). Players were going home to get instruction. Some turned to a former player for instruction, this did get JT's attention lately. I have been there since the beginning I feel this staff quit on me as a fan, they did not earn their salaries.

The thing WSU has, is that they can take the guy with the desire and will to prove himself, and give him EVERYTHING he wants/needs to do what he wants.
I havent seen many others, but Im guessing WSU still has facilities that compare to most."When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!

The school is already paying out 700,000+ in coaches salaries. So I don't see how they couldn't spend more than $150,000 for the right guy if they wish?

I believe Marshall's starting salary was higher than Turgeon's.
I think WSU will pay what is needed to get the best coach they can. I do not believe that Sexton would make this move to save money. That is nuts.

All the attendance trends have been in a free fall including season tickets sales (which are not affected by weather)
WSU RPI - 103 (one of the worst in history)
WSU SOS - 125 (very poor home schedule)
18-19 Losing Non-Conference Record
19-14 home record (which is one of the worst in history)
The excuse makers are popular for saying "38 wins" - how can you fire him. It only took 66 tries to get 38 wins. That is 58% winning pct - 2nd WORST in the Gene Stephenson era. His worst came just a couple years ago.
0-7 vs Top 50
5-13 vs Top 50-100
Every possible metric you could look at is down ....except for the excuses."Prediction is very difficult, especially if it is about the future."
