Time will tell people. Sexton has backed himself in a dark windowless corner. If he doesn't make a very wise choice while getting quick huge success, he will be the new AD for BuCo JuCo.

Anyone thought about Steve Owens of Bryant

I can kind of see what you think of ADES but he has apparently pulled the trigger as many thought would not happen. I will choose to wait and expect to be overwhelmed. Life has a tendency to reflect what your expectations are. I'm sorry you have a miserable life. Even though my wife still battles cancer our lives seem to be better than yours.

WSU RPI - 103 (one of the worst in history)
WSU SOS - 125 (very poor home schedule)
            18-19 Losing Non-Conference Record
19-14 home record (which is one of the worst in history)

The excuse makers are popular for saying "38 wins" - how can you fire him. It only took 66 tries to get 38 wins. That is 58% winning pct - 2nd WORST in the Gene Stephenson era. His worst came just a couple years ago.

            0-7 vs Top 50
            5-13 vs Top 50-100

Every possible metric you could look at is down ....except for the excuses.
Did ADES offer any new season ticket pricing due to the economic downturn?

You don't get it - even with all of that going on, there were people opposed to Smithson's firing.

How much of an extension do you think Gene should get?

Great.... Now we go with the guy we can pay cheaply who has "the desire"
Sounds Familiar. Gene Stephenson lightening will be hard to capture again.

2 years with JT being fired. If Gene doesn't like it, then he can quit.

I want three, new, superior, baseball recruiters, who happen to be competent baseball teachers and game managers.

Follow the Coach Marshall recruitment model.

It is all that I am requesting.

If I was the AD, I would require the new baseball staff to consult extensively with Coach Marshall about recruiting.

I dont believe that. Im not saying we can put a monkey in the position, but I also don't believe that there is a small pool of guys who can be successful. I think there is a huge pool to pick from.

It really all depends on what Sexton wants for the future of WSU baseball.
                        Two things can be assumed
                        1. Either he wasn't happy with the results
                        2. He wasn't happy with what he's paying

If its point #2 we might get the same results as we've had for the past 4 years but with paying 1/3 the cost. Will Sexton be happy then? Well see who he hires and at what investment..

Good stuff. Here's what I want to see. I am not a huge baseball fan, but I've been attending games since I was in the 8th grade which was 1979. I enjoy watching my team execute as well or better than the other team, and I enjoy watching the players and coaches play with passion and a little moxie, and I enjoy watching our student athletes improve year over year. Lastly, any Valley team that beats us should be an upset. I don't expect to go 21-0 every year, but I at least want to gripe about 3-4 WSU players not being named first team. Now we really aren't any good.

Our program used to do this all the time. I want to see the program do it again.

                            Sexton's list:

                            1. Has ran, or been a key part of running, a successful program.
                            2. Can recruit players that can be coached.
                            3. Can win back those supporters who have dropped season tickets.
                            4. Develops quality young men.

Those won't come cheap, and while I don't expect us to spend $500k, we better spend $300k+ or what was the point? A can't miss guy will cost us. We can take a chance, but can we?

Just what do you consider "quick huge success"? Generally, only when a coach leaves a program for bigger and better things, leaves his old program with upward momentum, and passes on a solid returning roster does that program see huge success. It would not surprise me to see a couple of rough years like HCGM had after MT and MT left on his own for greener pastures. Once again, you blame Sexton as backing himself into a dark windowless corner. As if Krusty could have had absolutely nothing to do with it. We are not made privy to what all may have gone on over the last few years that might have prevented this situation. What we do know is that Gene is probably making 2, maybe 3 times what other Valley coaches are, yet over the last 5 years, several have done as well as he. Gene probably makes a little better money than HCGM does compared to their peers. HCGM just took us to the F4 and some here want his name on a banner in the rafters. However, if he has the kind of success over the next 5 years that Gene has had, 1 (tied) regular season title, no at-large NCAA worthy teams, backed into 2 NCAA through the Valley tournament where the league is sub top 10, no NCAA tourney wins, what would happen to him and his high salary?
