We both have 3 hits. If the bats can get going against their relief we can sneak back in this.

Leadoff hitter aboard in the first 5 innings…. And zippo. Bunch of strikeouts looking and weak swings. Haven’t seen this many 0-2 counts in 1 game this year. What a letdown.

      ... No really, deuces.

At least according to the nerd articles I have read up on this.
Those statistics really go down when the ball never hits the ground off the bunt.

Hated the bunt to set up Stroh for 2nd and 3rd and 1 out. That’s just a strikeout waiting to happen.

I am more pro-bunt than anyone you will ever talk to, especially in college when fielding is suspect by just abiut everyone. And I have hated every attempt today. Just big WTFs on all of them.

This one has been negative fun to take in so far. However, the comeback starts now.

Big pinch hit single there by Millan. Followed by a very unlucky out by C Johnson as the ball hit his bat while ducking out of the way.

The ball really goes a long long ways when it happens to hit Stroh's bat, but he's got to figure out how to put the ball in play when that doesn't happen.

It's okay, we all have old ideas we can't let go of.

iMHO, there are so many factors that come in to play in deciding whether or not to bunt that have nothing to do with what broad based stats over thousands of players and hundreds of teams.

Each circumstance will generally have to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis taking into account the players involved, the strength of the opponent, who is up at bat, who is coming to bat, who is on base, etc., etc. Today you can add the impact that weather might have on being able to score.

The stats apply very broadly but don't necessarily provide a lot of guidance in any specific situation.

Very nice shutdown inning in the 7th by Munz after the Shox climbed back into the game. Apparently it's not that difficult against a .230 hitting team if you just put it over the plate.

The ball did not hit Stroh's bat.

Shox managed to tie it though. Now can the pen hold on til the Shox find a lead? I think yes.

I get that the plan for 8-9 innings is Anderson/Adler but I sure hate taking out a guy that had actually found the strike zone.

                            And a walk. Friggin frack.

                            Nice recovery by Anderson.

Especially when this might go into extra innings.
