The appearance is that many players were leaving because of the coach. Then the coaching change caused even more players to leave. It kinda looks like the players didn't want to play for Hibbs, and want to play for Green even less.

But then who would want to play for a coach who had guided his previous teams to 8th, 9th, and 10th place in an 11-team league?

The dumpster fire that is the baseball program right now needs to be put out fast or it's going to spread and burn down the entire program.

I have a suspicion the number of players in the portal would be pretty close to Hibbs or Green being the HC.

Personally I was a bit impressed with Adler and Mo coming back after such a short amount of time.

Was more displeased with Tolle.

But them pulling their names out that quickly makes me believe in his recruiting abilities a bit.

I suspect Payton Tolle was going to be under NIL pressure to transfer one way or the other. No doubt there have been little birdies in his ear even prior to the announcment that HIbbs would not be returning. The portal is perhaps the primary means the players can assess their "market value".

You can't be mad a Tolle. He and his family did it the right way. They were patient, met with the coach before making any decisions. I suspect he is getting big, big NIL $$$ thrown at him. You can't blame him for not at least putting his toe in the water. Plus for my last year before the draft, I would want a pitching coach who has track record of helping pitchers get to the next level. Not sure we can say that about WSU pitching coach.

Yeah that’s not how I meant displeased. I find it hard to blame any player leaving after a coaching change. I get it. It’s just unfortunate.

Is it confirmed anywhere that Green is bringing Claggett with him? I haven't seen any official staff announcements other than Sirrianni leaving.

Tolle and most of our players are smart kids. They have heard the birdies, but can’t be contacted directly unless they enter the portal. Only then can they get the full details of what is real and what is imagined.

Most of them will likely be fed a load of promises that will inevitably never come to fruition. Unfortunately that is what a lot of the big schools are doing.
