America's juggernaut Missouri State gets eliminated by an America East team, when they had a 5 run lead late? With America's best pitching staff?

LOL. Very successful campaign MSU. Clearly you overachieved this year. Way to pass WSU up as the Valley's elite!

Creighton easily beats Mountain West Co-champ New Mexico 7-2. Cu will now have to beat the home team and #2 National Seed UCLA twice to advance to the super regionals.

No they need to keep putting together a string of making regionals before they should be seriously considered. They have been good the last couple of years sure but let's see what happens to them when Houston's new coach starts putting that program back at the top and Tech gets a new guy. They have been doing well when a couple of the real Texas powers have struggle. Look at Texas too.

Finally it just seems small time to have a baseball only member. I think they need to make another Super Regional or two before we really go down that path. They aren't Notre Dame football. They are a minnow in the DFW market and trust me I thoroughly know that market. That being said they are a nice little program and a good story. I wouldn't chuck a baseball at someone if we let them in but it seems like the current arrangement works. We are getting a nice little RPI boost from having them play so many MVC teams but we aren't having to rub shoulders with them as true equals.
            Petty and unjustified arrogance.

Let's hear it for Bradley baseball.
Let's hear it for SIU baseball.
Let's hear it for Red Bird baseball.
Let's hear it for Drake baseball.
Let's hear it for UNI baseball.

            Gad. Just go away.

Wow did the ACC ever lay an egg! How can the NCAA continue to give these conferences so many bids (although the SEC got 8 and they have done VERY well...)? Everyone talked about the ACC being by far the best conference. The ACC got 7 teams in the NCAA with 5 #1 seeds hosting regionals and 2 #2 seeds (also 2 National Seeds). So far they are 13-11 with FSU advancing to a Super Regional and NC State having a shot to advance tomorrow. UNC was the #6 National Seed that went 2-2 at home. Miami was #10 overall going 0-2 at home. Virgina #16 overall going 1-2 at home.

7 Teams in all with great seeds and they might advance 2 teams. WOW!!! This by no means is sour grapes because WSU didn't get in. It just shows the bias for the SE. Get more deserving teams in and let some teams host that actually have a chance to move on!!!

16 #1 Regional seeds (5 from the ACC)
10 #1 seeds still playing (2 from the ACC)
6 #1 seeds eliminated (3 from the ACC)

Outside of the ACC, 8 of 11 #1 seeds have won or are still playing.
The ACC has 2 of 5 #1 seeds still playing...

DBU lost to Baylor today 9-2. They play again tomorrow. The winner of that game advances to the Super Regionals.

I have to agree with you this year. I'm just happy that FSU swept their series to move on (considering some weaknesses on this year's team). FSU has now won 16 straight Regional games. That streak will end when Stanford throws their expected #1 MLB draft pitcher.

You know...as I think about it, tournaments are funny.

I think that the SEC is strong and will, again this year, have a team in the NC title game. Mississippi State did win the SEC tourney...but they were swept by Samford in two games at the Tallahassee Regional.

And Samford did not look that strong...they scored three combined runs in two games against FSU.

I don't know what, if anything, that you can say about the strength of the SEC because of Mississippi State's (#2) performance in Tallahassee.

I am absolutely sure that, although they won their SEC tourney, that Mississippi State is not the best team in the SEC.

Well they need to because a certain bares fan demands they rack up several more super regionals before they should even be considered for membership. Nevermind the Bares have made two regionals in 10 seasons even with the best recruiting tool of all time, the springfield cardinals stadium, which also happens to seat about 20 times more than bares avg attendance.

By the way maroon doesn't run, nor does it show up to the bares baseball games.

As usual, this kind of opposing fan insight is not only welcomed, but encouraged. More CharlieHog, less....well you know the rest.

You know I realized this weekend that it was 10 years ago that I started posting on and reading Shockernet! The 2002 Regional in Wichita. Definitely doesn't feel like that was a decade ago.

Didn't happen as as the Creighton falls to UCLA by a 13-5 score. CU actually outhit UCLA 12-11, although 4 of those hits came in CU's 2-run 9th after the issue was pretty much decided with UCLA leading 13-5. CU used 6 pitchers and they did give up 9 free passes (8 BBs and 1 HBP) plus CU committed 2 errors that lead to 5 unearned runs. UCLA RF and clean-up hitter, Jeff Gelalich, went 3 for 3 plus 2 walks including 2 homers with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored.
