In the bottom of the 7th, Miss St. has one runner on first, 2 outs, Spiker Helms coming to bat and Miami makes another pitching change. The score remains 12-2.

The Miami announcers act like the game is over. Talking about who Miss St plays next and that Miami's season is over after this game. The crowd looks pretty small and the Miss St fans sound louder than the Miami fans (not that the Miami fans have had a lot to cheer about).

12-2 going to the 8th. Looking at their season stats Miami's strength appears to be their pitching. Their team era is 2.99 while their team batting average is only .260. No wonder their announcers don't feel like Miami can come back from a 10 run deficit at home. Usually announcers try to at least sound hopeful. Especially if you are suppose to be a top 12 team at home facing a team that probably barely made it into the tournament.

Both teams went down quietly in the 8th. Going to the ninth with Bears still up 12-2. Starter Pierce Johnson's day is finally done.

Shanahan comes in to pitch for the Bears and throws 3 straight balls before the batter finally fouls out on a 3-2 count to register the first out.

Shanahan hits 2 batters in a row (he had a 0-2 count on the second one) but other than that Miami goes down quietly. Game ends on a 5-4-3 double play. The Bears win 12-2!

          Miami's season is over.

That is why the 5th/6th ranked team in a conference should NEVER host a regional. I don't care how good you think the conference is, when you get down to 6th - 9th there are way better teams in other conferences. That is the problem with the RPI. It benefited us this year but do you really think Miami deserved to host? They got embarrassed!!!

Actually it didn't end up benefiting WSU as the Shox got left out anyway in spite of their rpi, SOS and record against the top 50. Miami on the other hand got to host because of their stellar rpi and SOS even though they barely broke .500 in the ACC and finished way back in the conference.

I meant the RPI helped the MVC this year. We had teams with pretty good RPIs going into conference play and we just fed off of each other. When we (or other Valley teams) lost conference games our RPI didn't fall much.

I agree. RPI and SOS are tools to help measure a team. I feel people tend to over value RPI and SOS.

Mo State 12 - Miami 2. Good job Bears. The MVC needed that one. The Bears are not out of this one yet.

How about TCU 28 - Dayton 12. Nice to run out of pitching after one game.

Indiana State trails Austin Peay 1-0 after 4. APSU scored 1 in the bottom of the 4th but it could have been worse. After a walk, single, pop out and walk loaded the basses for APSU against Sean Maneea the scored on a single to left. But a strike out and a pick of the runner at 1st ended the inning.

Indiana State with only 3 singles through 6 innings and all 3 belong to leadoff hitter DH Landon Curry.

Austin Peay had only 2 singles through 5 innings but both came in the 4th along with 2 walks to produce a run. With two outs in the bottom of the 6th APSU put runners on 2nd and 3rd with a single and a double but the next batter lined out to 2nd to end the inning.

                      After 6 full. APSU 1 - INS 0

CU wins 8-2 to end San Diego's season at 40-17. CU is now 5-1 since we took 2 of 3 from them in Omaha.

Actually it is probably not their best season ever. The 1986 Scyamores went to the College World Series, going 0-2 but they did make it to Omaha. The Shockers also failed to make the ncaa regionals that year.
