Word is that a baseball coach has been selected and has agreed to take over the program. That might explain the reported communications breakdown between the athletic department and the baseball coaching staff.
Where this bit of info breaks down is that a date for that happening isn't included - just that a replacement has been found. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

If HCGS is fired, the relationship between coach and AD should be written as a case study in how NOT to run an athletic department and support a program.
Nicely done ADES. If Gene goes, you should follow. You're in a tough spot Sexton...

Sexton doesn't recruit. Sexton doesn't schedule. Sexton doesn't coach? Sexton didn't force Gene to harrass a woman and get a law suite. What exactly has Sexton not done that he should have been doing?
If anything Sexton has given Gene to much of lease if you ask me. From what I have heard is Sexton has pretty much communicated that he needed to get it together and start performing - but Gene sat on his butt to long and now this program is 2nd or 3rd best in a Mediocre conference.
Missed 3 NCAA appearance in row (most likely a 4th)
3 out of 4 years (about to become 4 out 5) not finishing first in a conference that doesn't care about baseball
Season Tickets Sales drop 26%
Season Attendance Drop 42%
Bottom line is Gene makes Top 5-10% money in the nation but his performance on and off the Field doesn't warrant it.

Shox1989.......who do you suggest we replace ADES with? I, for one am getting pretty tired of people taking cheap shots at our AD, most of you don't have a clue about what you would do to fix the problem and who you would pick To ttake ADES place.
I find him personable, intelligent and competent. Qualities you need to raise money and keep alums happy.
No one is going to find it an easy task to send a legend home. Plus there are probably some well-heeled alums who have been in denial until recently, I do not have direct knowledge of this, but given the situation, it could very well be that my supposition is indeed a fact.
Myself, I think gene should have been gone at least 3 years ago, but the AD also has to deal with the politics of the situation. If you have large donors who would close the billfold and walk away (or worse yet, try to fire you if things don't work out, then you have to proceed accordingly.
Also, I don't think that this program hasn't slipped to the point where it is a major turn around job.
