  • Wow, pass ball on intentional walk. Any confidence I had in this team is now gone with WSU peeing down their legs.

    • Shox leave the bases loaded again in the 8th.

      Clutch level: 0

      • ECU tacks on 1 in the 8th with a HR. Pretty much the first real mistake by a WSU pitcher in the game.

        • Ugh. Well coached teams take what you give them and we've been giving the whole day. I'm still hopeful we're turning a corner but this game has been so frustrating in just about every aspect.

          • 1-2 not that bad on the weekend. Thursday was a lot of fun. Friday played ok and got beat by a good team. Saturday was pretty embarrassing with a serious case of deja vu.

Will be interesting to see if they can bounce back and get rolling again at home this week, or if there is a hangover.

            • 2-2 week is "okay" or "fine" - basically not damaging for at-large purposes but not helpful either. 3 wins would have been fantastic.

Big week ahead - could really use 3+ wins to recapture momentum.

              • If we take the 7-3 Thursday and 5-0 Saturday, followed by a 14-3 on Sunday, we would be ecstatic.

We were competitive with a Top 20 team all weekend. 1-2 I would have taken all day. Now we just need to take care of business against the bottom teams.

                • It probably feels worse than it really is, but In the rubber match this team didn’t compete at the plate, and didn’t field well in the clutch. It just felt like they got one win and where happy to just settle for that.

ECU sent a message in game 2 when they plunked Bohm on purpose. WSU didn’t answer.

                  • Nothing like a piece of humble pie to re-calibrate the reality meter. Oh well, a win against OK ST will make me feel warm and fuzzy all over again.

                    • Going 1-2 against ECU especially on the road is not a huge fail. However, today's game was not so much about the loss as it was about the way they lost.

I'll take what the pitching staff gave us today in the 3rd game of every series we play. No need to comment on the rest of the team's malodorous performance today.

A lot of ball left on the schedule and a lot of opporutnities to do some really good things are still there for the taking.

                      • Yep, afraid this was gonna happen after the feel-good 14-3 blasting on Thursday.

Not even competitive in the series finale. A big fat goose egg. Outhit them 6-4, but lost 5-0? Really?

                        ... No really, deuces.

                        • How is out htting them not competitive? We lost. We got beat. They played better, strung hits together, and won the game. We will learn, mix up our plate approach for a coupke hitters who seem to have been scouted well, and go on. 1-2 on the road against a Top 20 team isnt that bad.

Was this just a case of them simply having better pitching than us? Good pitching beats good hitting as they say.

I'd say putting up a goose egg on the scoreboard is not competing. They never had a chance. Still can't get a key base hit in crunch time.

When this team plays from behind, it's a totally different mindset with them. Just look at their wins and look at their losses.

I think they had a better scout than we did. They knew exactly how to handle Jenista. He is always taking first two pitches, and swinging on the third.

They missed on Bohm, but corrected once they stopped letting Jenista on base, they werent scared to walk him.
