Reasonable to think he could make the transition late this month if that's the plan.

Time for a Bohm Bomb (if they pitch to him).

Segal just looks effortless out there. Another encouraging outing for him. We haven't seen much of him (if anything) since Louisiana, and he looks dynamite out there. Works fast, gets it done.

Another 1-2-3 inning for Alex, 2 perfect IPs, 4 Ks and just 25 pitches. Will be interesting to see if he gets to come back out for the 8th as efficient as that half inning was.

Quick inning for Alex in the 7th. Give him one more maybe? He is only at 25 pitches.

Offense goes down quietly in the 7th, working on a gentleman's C effort so far at the plate today. Hopefully the pitchers can continue to hold serve down the stretch.

Alex back out for the 8th, Preston Minor warming up in the pen.

                    Segal looks fantastic.

                    31 pitches, 3 IPs and 5 Ks.

Do we let him try to finish it?

Man these guys have flashed leather all season so far. Great catch by Jenista and Segal is cruising.

Two of the guys flashing a lot of the leather are Jenista and Bohm. Both are thought to be pretty decent sticks as well.

Croft with quite a day as he floats an RBI triple off the top of the wall in right center. 5-1 Shocks, runner on 3rd with 0 out.

I agree. It would be great to see Croft continue to get ABs. I have been impressed with him this year. Last year I was always concerned about the number of SOs.

Nice job by Ritter getting Croft in from 3rd with a 1 out sac fly to left on a day when it's tough to push it deep enough in that direction.

6-1 WSU as the offense salvages a more respectable showing.

6-1 to the 9th as the home plate umpire calls a mercy called strike 3 on Bohm on a pitch that was about 2 inches above the dirt.

Let's see if Alex or Tyler will be out to start the 9th.

                        Edit: Tyler Davis it is.

5 runs is way too few for mercy calls.

What a beautiful effort by the staff today, especially with a 2nd midweek game less than 24 hours away (one of just 3 weeks this year where we play a pair of midweek games). Alex is the only arm out of the pen who I would expect won't be available tomorrow.

                        Preston Snavely - 5 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 1 ER, 8 K, 87 pitches thrown (W, 1-0)
                        Alex Segal - 3 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 ER, 5 K, 31 pitches thrown
                        Tyler Davis - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 ER, 2 K, 16 pitches thrown

Season high 15 strikeouts. Nobody will confuse SIU-E for Louisiana State, but they showed this weekend they are not completely toothless and this was just a brilliant effort from our 3 hurlers. Great job Shockers.

Outstanding description. Tidy indeed. Not much to complain about today. All 3 pitchers pitched well, and looked the part.
