1-2-3 second for Preston, 4 Ks so far on 32 pitches. Keep it rolling big fella.

WSU may lose more men on the basepaths this year than score runs.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

Young out at 3rd trying to stretch on an infield dribbler by Katzfey.

Jenista's pick was incredibly dumb with Bohm up. This one didn't bother me as much since the shortstop had to make a pretty incredible play racing nearly stride for stride with Young from 2nd, catching a running throw by the 3rd baseman at full bore and applying the tag as he tumbled with Young across the bag. Hat tip I suppose.

We need to start pushing some of these runners across though.

What happened with Jenista? Was he going 1st movment and guessed wrong or just broke to soon like Noah Croft did against Nebraska.

Deer in the headlights. Didn't look like he broke first movement, just took about a month to recognize the move and by the time he realized it he was caught in a pickle.

You should pretty much just be standing on the bag with Bohm up anyway.

Just curious .. what direction is the wind blowing at the stadium .. in or out? Wondering if we will see like 80 HRs in this game

Blowing towards the right field corner. Homers will probably be limited to between the flag pole and the right field fair pole.

2 out, 2 strike RBI single by SIU-E breaks the deadlock. 1-0 Cougars.

Preston's logged 3 IP, 6 Ks and 1 ER on 55 pitches so far. Guessing they will run him out for the 4th but we'll see - overall a pretty strong first start for him.

Hitters need to pick him up here.

If he continues to throw this effectively I can see him going 5. Like the strike outs but it does run up the pitch count a bit. But I can then letting him go around 75 pitches as long as he is pitching well.

SIUE puts 1 on the board in the 3rd. Still, I would call this a very serviceable start by Snavely to this point.

            0-1 SIUE Mid 3rd

Sounds like the RBI single was a duck snort of the end of the bat to CF. But they don't ask how. Just how many.

Fulkerson out for SIU-E, Brett Taucher in to start the 3rd. Going to be a lot of arms used today.

Shocks go down quietly in the 3rd, still 0-1 to the 4th.

That's 70 pitches for Preston. That may do it for him. We'll see.

Snavely strands a runner at 2nd and strikes out another in the 4th. 69 pitches so far, 7 Ks and 1 ER.

                    Good effort from Snavely.

                    Poor effort in lineup construction.

Snavely will start the 5th but the Shocks have guys throwing in the pen. So Preston is close to the end of his workday.

                        Leadoff double for SIUE.

Sticking with Snavely for some reason. I guess to blow any chance of him building confidence from a good performance.

Snavely pitched well, worked the outside corner that the plate ump is giving him, good change and a decent 89-91 fastball. Very solid outing. If he got a little help from Croft it would still be 0-0. 2 soft singles made it 1-0.

Any chance O'Brien know hows to catch just by osmosis? We haven't had a catcher in years.
