No, that can't be! Obama told us in his campaign that he wouldn't raise taxes for the middle class. His advisors are wrong!

Technically, he didn't. One of his advisors did. :)

        • I'm pretty sure he said that American families making less than $250k (or was it $225k? He kept changing it as the campaign went on), would see no increase in their taxes.

I didn't believe it then so none of this surprises me.

          • Does anybody believe any campaign promise that any politician gives us, whether they are elephant, donkey, or otherwise? I sure don't, and, if you do, I would say that you are being naive.

              • White House says no tax hike for middle class

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama remains committed to not raising taxes on U.S. families earning less than $250,000 despite some conflicting statements from senior members of his economic team, the president's spokesman said Monday.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs restated the assurance after Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and National Economic Council Director Larry Summers appeared to leave open the possibility Obama would tap middle-class Americans' income.

"I'm going to deal with this and I'll do this one more time," Gibbs said after repeated questions from reporters about the differences between the economists and Obama. "The president was clear. He made a commitment in the campaign. That commitment stands."
The President's economic team needs to get on the same page as the President. This isn't the first time something like this has happened. Vice President Biden has said things that didn't agree with the President's position.

They are only speaking the truth. The U.S. can't continue to run huge deficits. They have to either cut budgets or raise revenue. As we can see the Obama administration has no plans to cut back on spending. That can only mean 1 of 2 things - raise taxes or go bankrupt.

The dirty secret is a stealth tax increase will be coming in 2010 - bush tax cuts on the middle class expires and won't be renewed.

                      • Schumer: Healthcare Changes This Year 'No Matter What'
With President Barack Obama's political fortunes on the line, Democrats in Congress vowed on Monday to push healthcare reform through the Senate with or without Republican support.

"No matter what happens we are going to enact healthcare reform by the end of the year," said Senator Charles Schumer, one of the Democrats who has been working with Republicans to craft a bipartisan plan in that chamber.
Obama's Healthcare Numbers Don't Add Up
Some of President Barack Obama's health care numbers don't seem to add up. And that's complicating his efforts to pass his top domestic priority.

Obama could be falling into the same trap that snagged George W. Bush when he was pushing private accounts for Social Security as part of his "ownership society" in 2005. Bush's claims that the proposal would help shore up Social Security's long-term finances were hard to document mathematically and wound up feeding greater public skepticism.

                        • This doesn't help any.

Feds see biggest tax revenue drop since 1932

WASHINGTON - The recession is starving the government of tax revenue, just as the president and Congress are piling a major expansion of health care and other programs on the nation's plate and struggling to find money to pay the tab.

The numbers could hardly be more stark: Tax receipts are on pace to drop 18 percent this year, the biggest single-year decline since the Great Depression, while the federal deficit balloons to a record $1.8 trillion.

Other figures in an Associated Press analysis underscore the recession's impact: Individual income tax receipts are down 22 percent from a year ago. Corporate income taxes are down 57 percent. Social Security tax receipts could drop for only the second time since 1940, and Medicare taxes are on pace to drop for only the third time ever.

There won't be enough doctors left for us middle-class taxpayers who will pay for most of it courtesy of Obama's already-broken promise (aka lie) about a tax hike.

"This type of anger and discord did not serve Republicans well in 2008 ... and it is bound to backfire again."
I seem to recall the left doing things like putting devil horns on Bush and using Nazi symbols with him and I do recall someone CA hanging a Sarah Palin. Personally, it's stupid no matter who's doing it but this guy is a complete idiot for acting like it's a right wing thing.
